Very, very serious alert to all World of Warcraft players. Blizzard acknowledges en mass security breaches on Accounts

It is been hinted in the last few days, but there was nothing concrete. Blizzard asked fans to do not download any UI that requires you to install an .EXE file. Today, although cryptic, Blizzard has panicked fans with the announcement that the Billing account Department will be taking phone calls in an orderly fashion to address different complaints and account reset to return to customers their lost accounts. This is no joke and it is obvious that Blizzard has received a large amount of complains of lost accounts breached by hackers.

With the recent rise in reports of compromised accounts, we felt that it would be in the best interest of the community to bring this topic into the spotlight. This is an effort to educate our customers about what can be done to should your account become compromised and most importantly, what you can do to prevent it from becoming compromised.

We strongly recommend you following procedure to avoid compromising your account:

-Avoid using third-party executable programs.
-Do not type your World of Warcraft login info on other websites.
-Don’t share your information with friends/guild mates.
-Don’t use “leveling” services, or any service that requires you to provide your account ID and/or password.
-Change your password often. Also, make sure that you don’t follow a pattern when you change your password (ex: 123Bob, 123Bobb, 123Bob1, 123Bob2)
-Avoid UI mods with executables since they could contain Trojans that transmit your account information back to the host

That includes Cosmos UI which requires you to download an .EXE and IGE or other account leveling services. EXE files can hide keyloggers and trojans that may send to the hacker all your personal data and passwords. Blizzard urges affected players to call Billing Department:

Due to the volume of calls received regarding compromised accounts, the Billing and Account Services department will continue phone support until 9PM PDT. Please be patient when trying to connect, as we are assisting as many customers as possible in an orderly fashion. Email: [email protected] and Phone: 800)-59-BLIZZARD
