Karma in inZOI determines the overall behaviour of your Zois, pushing them to behave either kindly and conscientiously or rudely and selfishly. Put simply, it’s akin to a good and bad meter that unlocks positive or negative behaviours and interactions depending on which side of the scale your Zoi leans. Arguments, crime, nasty rumors, violence, and potential prison time on one side and kind and, on the other, encouraging interactions that raise your standing with other Zois.
There are also consequences, too. A Zoi with bad Karma will turn into a ghost when they die, fated to roam the city until they turn their fortunes around and earn a good Karma reputation, at which point they can enter the afterlife. This hasn’t been implemented into the game yet, though. Conversely, you can reward a Zoi with good Karma by intervening with a compliment and a reward.
The system is very much a work-in-progress in inZOI’s current early access state. To help you navigate the system, here’s a complete guide to inZOI Karma, including how to increase and decrease Zoi Karma along with how to intervene to scold and compliment Zois.
How to increase Zoi Karma in inZOI
Positive interactions with other Zois leads to good Karma. Captured by VideoGamerPositive interactions and actions
The easiest way to increase Karma in inZOI is to choose positive dialogue choices when interacting with other Zois. When talking to another Zoi, you’ll see these displayed in the dialogue sub-menu by two blue and purple dots with tails circling around each other. Every time your Zoi uses one of these, their Karma will increase positively. To access these, click on any Zoi and greet them, then tap the More button and then Action. On the right, you’ll see a list of actions, including positive ones.
Here’s a quick list of positive actions and interactions:
- Compliment
- Give directions
- Comfort
- Give a Thank You Card
- Ask If Help Is Needed
- Make a Mood-Lifting Joke
- Share the Joy of Good Deeds
- Compliment Them on Their Look Today
- Say It’s Fun Being Together
- Offer Some Food
- Share Ideas
- Give a Surprise Gift
- Offer Encouragement with Words of Trust
The deeper the relationship you have with a specific Zoi, the more positive options you’ll see listed. However, as standard you’ll have several to choose from even when talking to a stranger for the first time.
Perform positive Smartphone actions to earn Karma. Captured by VideoGamerSmartphone actions
Click on your Zoi then select Smartphone to see a list of Personal and Interactions Actions. Those marked with the blue and purple chasing dots symbol denote positive actions that improve Karma. Regularly instructing your Zoi to perform any of these actions will help increase your Karma. These are:
- Like a Friend’s Post
- Upload Complimentary Post on Bubbly
- Leave Complimentary Comment on Bubbly
- Send a Thank You Message
- Sign an Online Petition for Environmental Protection.
Tweak Control City Status settings
Tap the Edit City icon in the bottom right of the screen, then head to Manage Zois and then to Manage City. Here, you’ll see several sliders that you can use to tweak various aspects of city Karma and life. Some of them affect how Karma is earned and lost:
- Conversation Karma Positivity – turn this one up and Zois will earn more Kama for positive conversations and interactions.
- Conversation Karma Positivity – turn this one down to dial down the impact of negative Karma conversations and interaction.
- Civic Consciousness – turn this one up to increase the success rate of Karma interactions therefore upping how fast a Zoi earns good Karma for good actions.
You also tweak others like Positive/Negative Emotion Control to make Zois less likely to act out and behave rudely, preventing poor Karma. You may also want to turn down City Safety to decrease the probability of Zois committing violent acts, which lead to bad Karma.
You can buy the Neutral Donut in the Meow Store, accessible from your Zoi Card. Captured by VideoGamerNeutral Donut
If your Zoi’s Karma is very low, you can significantly accelerate a switch to positive Karma by buying a Neutral Donut from the Meow Store. It will cost you 100 Meow Coins and will immediately reset your Zoi’s Karma to neutral. This gives you more or less of a blank slate to then engage in positive Karma-boosting interactions.

Here are several other ways to increase Karma:
- Interact with a computer then select Karma Action and Wish for Friend to Pass the Exam, Pledge to Donate Organs, or other positive Karma actions.
- Click on your Zoi, select Interaction Action, and then a positive action like Clap and Cheer On.
- Donate to the local community at a mailbox or ATM.
With these methods, you should increase your Karma in inZOI in no time.
How to decrease Zoi Karma in inZOI
Negative Karma is much simpler to obtain. You essentially need to stomp through your city behaving as horribly and rudely as you can to other Zois, making a concerted effort to insult or harm them.
Choose red options to lower Karma. Captured by VideoGamerNegative interactions and actions
When interacting with other Zois, select negative Karma dialogue choices as represented by the red dots with tails symbol in the conversation sub-menu. Tap a Zoi, greet them, then head to either Action or Conflict to find these options. You’ll get more and more ways to vex, pester, and annoy other Zois as you veer closer to a Terrible Karma reputation, but here’s an example of negative interactions:
- Mock
- Ask Them to Go Away
- Yell
- Give a Fake Gift
- Knock Down
- Insult
- Talk While Looking at Phone
- Extort
- Throw a Punch
- Heckle
- Yawn Right in Their Face
- Whisper a Crude Joke
- Tell Them to Stop Being Stupid
- Pick a Fight
- Say That Looking at You That Makes you Uncomfortable
- Say You Aren’t in the Mood for Conversation
- Try to Be Pedantic
- Hit an Awkward point in the Conversation
Alongside dialogue choices, you can also perform negative Personal Actions that decrease your Zoi’s Karma. To access these, tap on your Zoi, select Personal Action or Interaction Action, and then choose the options marked by the two red dots. Here’s a sample of the options available:
- Fart Secretly
- Secretly Drop Something on Floor
- Express Anger
- Threaten
Smartphone actions
Much like when you want to improve your Karma, you can use Smartphone actions to decrease it. Tap on your Zoi, go to Smartphone, and then choose the options marked with the red symbol. Here’s a brief list of what’s available:
- Send a Rumor Text
- Send a Prank Text
Tweak Control City Status settings
If you really want to dial up the negative Karma, you can tweak city-wide settings by tapping Edit City in the bottom left of the screen, then going to Manage Zois and Manage City. In this menu, you’ll want to tweak settings like Conversation Karma Negativity, Positive/Negative Emotion Control, and City Safety so that you;re earning negative Karma quicker with fewer interactions. Note that these does tend to send the city into absolute disarray, turning it into a very unpleasant place to live for your Zois.
Buy the Diabolic Donut to immediately get Terrible Karma. Captured by VideoGamerDiabolic Donut
If you want instant results without having to jump through hoops to turn your Zoi bad, there’s the nuclear option – the Diabolic Donut. Tap your Zoi Card in the bottom right corner then select the Meow Store. Scroll down and you’ll find the Diabolic Donut, which for 100 Meow will immediately change your Zoi’s Karma to Terrible.
Stealing and Thieving
Another fantastic way to tank your Karma rating is to steal from ATMs. There is a caveat to this though: you’ll need to have a sufficient low Karma rating for the option to appear. Tap on any ATM, then select Karma Action, and then Steal.
Good and bad Karma consequences and how to intervene
As mentioned above, good and bad Karma both has consequences. These are bundled into a system called intervene, which allows you compliment or scold a Zoi for their behaviour once every 24 hours if they have either Terrible or Best Karma.
To do this, tap the Edit City icon in the bottom right, go to Manage Zois then Karma Report, and click on Karma Status on the left. You’ll then see a list of all the Zois in your city along with their current Karma rating.

A compliment will trigger a text with three effect options. Captured by VideoGamer
Previous Next 1 of 2 Previous NextHere are the two types of intervention:
- Terrible Karma – scold a Zoi, immediately restoring Karma and improving their rating.
- Best Karma – compliment a Zoi and give them the option of three positive effects – Lottery Win, Daily Fortune, or Family Health. If it’s one your Zois, they’ll receive a text message from an Anonymous Supporter with the option to choose a reward.
