- At the time of writing, the Seamless Co-op mod for Elden Ring is broken following the Shadow of the Erdtree release
- Seamless Co-op allows multiple players to play together on the same campaign
- Developer LukeYui is currently working on an update to fix the mod
Elden Ring is a largely single player game, and while there are multiplayer elements like summons and invasions, it’s not designed to be a game that you can play through entirely with another player like you can with many other multiplayer games.
But there is a way to do it in the base game with a particular co-op mod. So if you want to play through the Land of Shadow with a friend, you’ll want to know if there’s a seamless co-op mod for Shadow of the Erdtree too.
Does Seamless Co-op work for Shadow of the Erdtree?
Unfortunately, at the time of writing not only is there no seamless co-op mod available for Shadow of the Erdtree, but the release of the DLC has actually broken the mod for the main game as well.
Developed by LukeYui, Seamless Co-op is a mod that’s been available for Elden Ring for a couple of years now. Once installed, it lets you and your friends join the same world and play through the entire game together as one co-op session. Essentially, it turns Elden Ring into any other multiplayer game.
But with the release of Shadow of the Erdtree, enough major changes have been made to the game’s files that the mod is currently completely broken, meaning players won’t be able to play through the DLC together at the moment. Thankfully, LukeYui has confirmed that work is underway to get it fixed, but wants players to know that it could take some time.
So if you were hoping to blitz your way through some of the brutally tough bosses of the Land of Shadow with a couple of mates, you’re going to have to make do with collecting more Revered Spirit Ash for summons until a fix is delivered. But don’t worry, we’re sure seamless co-op will be making a return to Elden Ring and Shadow of the Erdtree soon enough.
