Though it’s definitely one of the sadder social links you can advance throughout the course of Persona 3 Portable, Akinari Kamiki, the boy at Naganaki Shrine on Sundays who’s very open about dying from a grim illness, is really only looking for a friend.

He pushes on through it to engage with your protagonist about the ins and outs of dying in a way you see coming far before it happens, and although his fate is sealed, he’s excited to forge one more relationship before he goes. How To Unlock The Sun Social Link
Akinari serves as P3P’s Sun social link, which can formally begin after Koromaru joins SEES at the beginning of August.
However, before you can begin Akinari’s social link, there are a few prerequisites.
You’ll need to:
- Meet Akinari during Rank 3 of Maiko Oohashi’s social link.
- Reach Rank 4 Academics.
- Get Akinari’s pen back from Koromaru after the dog joins SEES and moves into the dorm.
Getting the pen back for Akinari is the final step of initiating his social link. With the pen in hand, visit him again on any subsequent Sunday, and your Sun social link will begin.
How To Rank Up Akinari’s Social Link
Your P3P social link with Akinari is somewhat automatic. Since he’s only available once each week, you’ll rank up his social link with each visit, regardless of the points you’ve earned during the scene.
