The Megalomaniac Diamond in Path of Exile 2 is a highly sought-after unique Jewel that can dramatically enhance an endgame character build, especially when optimally rolled. Acquiring one that synergizes with a specific build can be transformative, turning a character that simply inflicts considerable damage into an unstoppable force within the game.

However, the quest for this elusive Jewel is anything but straightforward. Players must not only conquer one of the most challenging bosses in PoE 2 but also rely on favorable RNG. Below, we outline the essential steps to secure the Megalomaniac Diamond.

How to Obtain the Megalomaniac Diamond in PoE 2

The Megalomaniac Diamond is exclusively dropped by Kosis, the Revelation, who is the pinnacle boss found at difficulty level 4.

Locating Kosis, the Revelation

To challenge the pinnacle variant of Kosis, players must access The Simulacrum at the Realmgate within the Atlas. To acquire a Simulacrum, you can either gather 300 Simulacrum Splinters through farming Delirium-influenced Waystones and nodes or purchase one through the currency exchange or trading platform.

Elevating The Simulacrum Difficulty to +4

To heighten the difficulty of The Simulacrum, players need to earn Delirium Atlas points by successfully completing the Simulacrum at its base difficulty. Each victory against the pinnacle boss grants two Delirium Atlas points, which can be used to increment the difficulty by one. Accumulating these by defeating the boss four times will allow you to unlock the challenging +4 difficulty, where Kosis, the Revelation becomes available. Only this high-difficulty encounter can yield the coveted Megalomaniac Diamond.

Note that Kosis can occasionally appear in standard Delirium maps, but this non-pinnacle version will not drop the Megalomaniac Diamond or other unique rewards exclusive to its pinnacle counterpart.

Understanding the Functionality of the Megalomaniac Diamond in PoE 2

The Megalomaniac Diamond features 2-3 modifiers with a singular purpose: to automatically allocate Notable passive skills in the passive skill tree. Upon socketing this Jewel into a Jewel socket, each modifier directly allocates its associated Notables, eliminating the need for characters to navigate towards these skills in the passive tree. This mechanic operates similarly to an Amulet Anointing, but players can potentially gain access to two or three passive skills simultaneously.

It’s important to note that only one Megalomaniac Diamond can be active in a skill tree at any given time.

The inherent value of a Megalomaniac Diamond can be highly variable due to the extensive number of Notable skills available. A Diamond showcasing three advantageous Notables relevant to a meta build could command hundreds of Divine Orbs, while one offering less desirable options may only fetch a price equivalent to that of a Regal Orb.

Once spawned, a Megalomaniac Diamond is considered corrupted and, as such, cannot be modified using a Vaal Orb. Consequently, the most viable way to secure a valuable Megalomaniac Diamond is through player trading.

In the passive skill tree, there are three categories of skill nodes:

  • Small Nodes: These are smaller nodes with a brown border.
  • Notables: Larger nodes also marked with a brown border.
  • Keystones: Large nodes distinguished by a golden border.

Considering the extensive range of Notable skills available—numbering in the hundreds—obtainings the ideal Megalomaniac Diamond independently is an exceedingly rare feat, if not a near impossibility.
