First Look: Gameplay Reveals

As we look at the technology behind Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, it is noteworthy that the developers at Warhorse Studios have opted to remain with Crytek’s CryENGINE instead of transitioning to the more widely used Unreal Engine from Epic Games. During a recent interview at Gamescom 2024, Martin Klima shared insights into this decision:

“After completing the first Kingdom Come, we thoroughly evaluated our technological options. Ultimately, we chose to stick with CryENGINE because we had invested considerable time customizing it to fit our specific needs. I take pride in the performance we have achieved with it. Although our version isn’t exactly the same as what Crytek uses for Hunt: Showdown, it is very similar.”

System Requirements and Performance Optimization

While the exact system requirements for Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 have yet to be disclosed, PR Manager Tobias Stolz-Zwilling assured fans that the game runs efficiently even on lower-end machines. During the first official live stream for the game, Stolz-Zwilling emphasized:

“We learned valuable lessons from our experience with the original KCD. We dedicated significantly more time this round to bug fixes, optimization, and performance assessments, not only on PC but also for console users. We’re currently refining these aspects, and we expect to share specific details shortly. Personally, my setup includes a 3050 GPU, and it performs exquisitely.”

Release Date
