Enhancing Final Fantasy VII Rebirth with New Lighting Mod

A recently released mod for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth promises to transform the game’s visual experience by incorporating ray-traced global illumination. This mod significantly enhances the lighting quality, addressing one of the game’s prominent shortcomings.

Introducing the FF7 Rebirth RTGI Remake-Grading ReShade Preset

The FF7 Rebirth RTGI Remake-Grading ReShade preset, created by modder ShinObi12, is now available for download on Nexus Mods. This preset focuses on correcting the game’s lighting, which many have criticized for appearing washed out compared to the refined visuals of its predecessor, Final Fantasy VII Remake. By enhancing contrast and tone, the preset aims to create a more visually appealing environment that mimics the Remake’s stellar lighting design, all while adding realistic ray-traced bounce lighting.

Subscription Required for Enhanced Visuals

It is important to note that while the ReShade preset improves the game visually, it comes with a cost. To use this preset, players will need to obtain Pascal Gilcher’s iMMERSE Pro shader, which is accessible through a subscription to the developer’s Patreon at the Ray Tracers tier. However, at just $5, the investment is reasonable considering the dramatic enhancements it can provide across various titles.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth’s Success on PC

Despite certain drawbacks, particularly concerning its lighting when compared to its predecessor, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth has made a strong impact on the PC gaming community. The game became the top seller on Steam for the week ending January 25th, which is a testament to its high quality and engaging gameplay. Reviewers, including Kai, have noted that it successfully builds upon the legacy of the series, making it a well-deserved success.

Availability

Players can now experience Final Fantasy VII Rebirth on both PC and PlayStation 5 across the globe.
