This weekend the final rounds of the China Championship took place. eStar Gaming defeated YL two times to be crowned the Chinese Champion. Both teams are now qualified for the World Championship at Blizzcon.

The teams that will compete in the Regional Championships for most regions are slowly but surely being selected, but today two teams already qualified for the main event: the Blizzcon World Championship. Today the final rounds of the China Championship were played out and revealed our first Regional Champions.

eStar Gaming is the highest ranked Chinese team on our rankings, coming in at position 5. They played extremely well this weekend, only losing games to our second placed team: Team YL. Team YL met eStar during Round 3, lost, but made their way back to the final series after beating Brave heart in the Lower Bracket finals. Brave heart is the third best Chinese team according to our rankings, but had the misfortune of meeting both eStar and Team YL on the way to the finals.

For the final series, eStar Gaming started with a 1 game advantage due to them not dropping a match. But the final series was a BO7, so Team YL had enough opportunity to come back and win the series.
This however did not happen. eStar Gaming won 3 out of the 4 maps they played and won the Championship for a prizepool of ¥ 200,000 ($32,000). Team YL was also quite happy to be rewarded ¥ 150,000 ($24,000), and the second Blizzcon qualification.

For people wondering about the difference between the Chinese meta and the EU/NA meta: aside from eStar picking up Brightwing over Lili as a solo support two times, the same heroes seem to be valued highly. However, China seems to place a little more priority on Tyrael and Arthas, even banning them out occasionally. For more information on the finals, visit our match overview page.
