The Nintendo Switch 2 will support USB mice, according to Koei Tecmo.

The upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 will apparently feature USB mice support, according to a video published by Koei Tecmo. The game publisher shared gameplay footage of the strategy game Nobunaga’s Ambition: Awakening Complete Edition on the Nintendo Switch 2, in a video which showcased the Joy-Con 2’s mouse capabilities.

In the same video, the game’s developers confirmed that Nintendo Switch 2 users will also be able to plug standard USB mice into the console, and use them during gameplay. You can view the USB mouse demonstration at the 10:50 timestamp in the below video:

Nintendo Switch 2 confirmed to support USB mice

A new game preview video for Nobunaga’s Ambition: Awakening Complete Edition, published by Koei Tecmo, has confirmed that the Nintendo Switch 2 will support USB mice. In the video, game producer Michi Ryu showed off gameplay for the strategy title using both of the console’s new Joy-Con 2 left and right units.

Via a translation from VGC, Ryu reportedly demonstrated the various ways the Joy-Con 2 can be used in gameplay. First, he switched the controllers from standard to mouse mode by pressing the SL button on the side of a Joy-Con 2. In this game, moving the Joy-Con 2’s analogue stick up and down while in mouse mode has the same effect as moving a scroll wheel up and down.

Afterwards, Ryu plugged in a standard wired USB mouse to the Nintendo Switch 2. The USB mouse then took priority in-game over the Joy-Con 2, following a confirmation screen. Ryu then proceeded to use both the left Joy-Con 2 unit with his left hand, and the USB mouse with his right hand, confirming that both devices can be used in tandem as well.

It’s likely that not all Nintendo Switch 2 will support mouse controls during gameplay, but its inclusion as a feature could be particularly impactful for anyone looking to play shooters on the console. That is, if you're not a fan of gyro controls.

The Nintendo Switch 2 is set to launch on 5 June, 2025.
