Nintendo Switch 2 consoles spotted in U.S. retailers ahead of launch next week

Nintendo Switch 2 consoles have been spotted at local Target stores in the United States of America prior to their official launch.
Nintendo Switch 2 consoles have been spotted at Target stores in the United States of America, locked inside cages, ahead of their official launch on 5 June, 2025. Pictures of the consoles were leaked in a now-deleted Reddit post by a Target employee claiming that their store received “around 40” consoles. However, the image only shows nondescript boxes inside a cage, without revealing the hardware's official packaging. The post, however, was archived by X users before it was deleted.
In addition to the deleted Reddit image, YouTuber Jake Randall also showed an image of the Switch 2 consoles locked inside a cage on the store floor, confirming that the upcoming Nintendo hardware was indeed inside the boxes.
The Nintendo Switch 2 will debut alongside first-party titles like Mario Kart World and Switch 2 Welcome Tour, as well as enhanced versions of existing games such as The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Third-party titles like Cyberpunk 2077, Street Fighter 6, and Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut will also come to the upcoming console.
Donkey Kong: Bonanza will also be released for Nintendo Switch 2 in July 2025, while other titles like The Duskbloods have not revealed their release dates yet. Nintendo Switch 2 versions of Pokémon Legends Z-A and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond are also due for release this year, with no confirmed dates.
Nintendo has also confirmed free Nintendo Switch 2 updates for 12 existing Switch games, improving resolution and frame rates, and introducing GameShare support, which allows game sharing with a single copy of the game.
Mice support for the Switch 2 has also been confirmed by a game developer for Nobunaga’s Ambition: Awakening Complete Edition.
