Fishing in Palworld is much more rewarding when you bring the right Pals. Several Partner Skills can increase your catch rate, improve the quality of the Pals you reel in, or boost the amount of loot you receive from fishing and ocean salvage.
While none of these Pals are required, they can significantly speed up fishing sessions and improve your overall rewards.
Best Pals for Fishing
Pal Partner Skill Effect Whalaska Starts fishing minigames with a 5% higher capture rate and increases fishing speed by 5%. Whalaska Ignis Starts fishing minigames with a 7% higher capture rate and increases fishing speed by 7%. Solmora Increases the chance of catching Pals with higher IV stats. Gloopie Slows the decay of the capture meter when the fishing bars are not aligned. Jellroy Increases the number of items obtained from salvaging materials in the ocean. Jeliette Increases the amount of materials obtained from successful fishing catches.Keep in mind that duplicate Partner Skills do not stack, so bringing multiple copies of the same Pal won’t provide additional benefits.
Whalaska and Whalaska Ignis
If your goal is to catch Pals faster, Whalaska and Whalaska Ignis are the best companions to bring.
Both Pals provide two bonuses:
- Increase your starting capture progress.
- Speed up completion of the fishing minigame.
Although they share the same type of effect, Whalaska and Whalaska Ignis count as separate Partner Skills, allowing you to benefit from both by bringing one of each.
Where to Find Whalaska
- Southern Feybreak Island
- Smaller islands around the Palpagos Islands
If you don’t spot one on land, check the surrounding waters.
Where to Find Whalaska Ignis
Whalaska Ignis can be found throughout the World Tree region.
Solmora
Solmora is the best choice if you’re fishing for powerful Pals instead of simply collecting resources.
Its Partner Skill increases the likelihood of catching Pals with higher IV (Individual Value) stats.
IVs are hidden attributes that influence a Pal’s:
- Health
- Attack
- Defense
Higher IVs result in stronger Pals, making Solmora especially valuable if you’re building competitive combat teams or breeding high-quality offspring.
To view IV values, you’ll need to craft and equip the Ability Glasses, which are unlocked with Ancient Technology Points.
Where to Find Solmora
Solmora can be found around:
- Ponds
- Lakes
throughout Sunreach.
You may also catch Solmora while fishing in these locations.
Gloopie
Fishing becomes noticeably more challenging in higher-level regions, where maintaining the capture meter requires greater precision.
Gloopie helps offset that difficulty by slowing the rate at which the capture meter drains whenever your fishing bars aren’t perfectly aligned.
This gives you more room for error and makes difficult catches far more manageable.
Where to Find Gloopie
Gloopie spawns along the:
- Northern beaches of Feybreak Island
- Western beaches of Feybreak Island
Jellroy
Jellroy is ideal for players farming materials from ocean salvage.
Its Partner Skill increases the number of items obtained when recovering salvage from the sea, making it particularly useful when gathering resources such as Coralum.
Where to Find Jellroy
Jellroy can be found on Phantom Isle, northwest of Mount Obsidian and west of the starting region.
Jeliette
While Jeliette is also an excellent Watering Pal for your base, it offers an additional benefit during fishing trips.
Its Partner Skill increases the amount of materials you receive after successfully reeling in fishing catches, helping you collect crafting resources more efficiently.
Where to Find Jeliette
Jeliette can be found along the northern shoreline of Feybreak Island.
Best Fishing Party
For the most efficient fishing experience, consider bringing:
- Whalaska Ignis for faster fishing.
- Whalaska for an additional speed boost.
- Solmora to improve IV quality.
- Gloopie for easier fishing minigames.
- Jellroy when farming ocean salvage.
- Jeliette to increase material rewards.
Choose your party based on what you’re farming. Solmora is ideal for catching powerful Pals, while Jellroy and Jeliette maximize resource gains. For general fishing, Whalaska, Whalaska Ignis, and Gloopie provide the biggest quality-of-life improvements by making every catch faster and easier.
