Bungie has confirmed that Destiny 2’s final hotfix, scheduled for July 7, will disable the Exotic Trace Rifle Divinity during the Insurrection Prime encounter in Pantheon 2.0. The change targets a recently discovered exploit that allowed players to bypass the encounter’s intended mechanics.

The update arrives less than a month after Bungie announced the end of active development for Destiny 2, making it one of the final gameplay adjustments players can expect.

Divinity Exploit Prompted the Change

According to Bungie’s official communications, Divinity is being disabled specifically for the Insurrection Prime boss fight because players found a way to defeat the encounter without completing its mechanics.

The exploit allowed fireteams to remain near the encounter’s spawn area, apply Divinity’s weakening cage to the boss, and deal damage from a safe position. As the strategy spread, many Looking for Group (LFG) posts began requiring players to use the exploit, with some groups removing anyone who didn’t follow the setup.

Rather than patching the bug itself, Bungie chose to disable Divinity for that encounter entirely.

Other Damage Options Remain Available

While Divinity has long been a staple of endgame damage phases thanks to its weakening effect, Bungie noted that players still have multiple ways to increase boss damage after the hotfix.

Alternatives include:

  • Artifact perks introduced with Monuments of Triumph
  • Tractor Cannon
  • Fafnir
  • Grenade launchers paired with the Weakened Clear Artifact perk

These options allow teams to apply damage debuffs without relying on Divinity.

One of Destiny 2’s Final Gameplay Changes

The decision reflects Bungie’s current approach to maintaining Destiny 2 following the game’s transition into end-of-service. After widespread layoffs and the conclusion of active development, the studio has indicated that future gameplay issues are more likely to result in items being disabled than permanently fixed.

The upcoming hotfix already includes the permanent disabling of two armor sets in Crucible, and Divinity’s restriction in Pantheon follows the same philosophy of preventing exploits without dedicating resources to larger code fixes.

Despite these limitations, Monuments of Triumph continues to provide players with endgame activities, new build options, and raid challenges. For now, Pantheon players tackling Insurrection Prime will simply need to complete the encounter as intended—without relying on Divinity to skip its mechanics.
