Who is The Cueist in Identity V?
Revealed at the Call of the Abyss VIII finals, the Cueist is a hunter in Identity V. It’s known that his real name is Marcs, and that he grew up in a lawless English land where everyone had to fight to survive. However, unlike most of the people there, Marcus occasionally showcased kindness while polishing his unique natural talent for billiards.
His talent for billiards attracted the eyes of his estranged father, who created Maxwell’s Demon, a force that could reverse entropy and enable perpetual motion. Time passed, and billiards became a thing of the past, being replaced by snooker. Unfortunately, Marcus was unable to adapt to this new sport and ended up getting critically injured upon the mysterious collapse of the billiard hall. As he lay there at death’s door, his father and his demon foung his dying body, prompting Marcus and the demon to merge into one being who only hungers for victory.

In this ball-like form, this character travels uncontrollably along the path at accelerated speeds, which is ideal for moving around quickly. This movement isn’t forever, as the player can either teleport to any point on the trajectory or manually select the dropoff point. Alternatively, the player can just wait out the ability, which requires a 30-second wait.
In this state, the character ignores physical collisions and strong control effects. This means that players can go through walls without having to worry about any collisions. The closed domain scans its interior after every few seconds, outlining all the survivors inside, and highlighting the Cuper Machine with the highest decoding progress for 5 seconds, while also reducing the progress by 20%.
Cue Ball (tier 1)
Marcus strikes the cue ball in his hand onto any of the paths he created. The ball travels along the path for some seconds, doing multiple things to benefit the hunter. Passing near an occupied Rocket Chair prompts the ball to speed up, and detecting a moving survivor within its range prompts the ball to lock onto and capture them. The Cueist can click or drag to transfer the captured survivor into a circular area around himself with a radius of 8 to 11 meters.
Contact Point - Advanced (tier 2)
This hunter’s final ability kicks in when Marcus is on a hot streak. It increases the charging speed of Contact Point, while also boosting his speed when he leaves the trajectory.

The Cueist has two external traits that players must remember, regardless of whether they’re playing as him or against him. The first is Inertia, which increases this hunter’s physical abilities every time he leaves the trajectory. This results in his movement speed and interaction speed for most actions increasing by 20%. Additionally, he can see the locations of nearby survivors for 5 seconds. While temporary, this can potentially give the Cueist the boost he needs to quickly take down nearby survivors.
Then, there’s his second trait. This one is called Pot Shot and kicks in if there are any injured survivors. The trait increases the duration of the Cueist’s first trait, Inertia, based on the number of injured survivors, with every survivor increasing it by 2.5 seconds, up to 10 seconds. Both traits go hand-in-hand with each other, enhancing this hunter’s abilities when he leaves the trajectory.
