Primal Casters differ from Core Casters in that they have a bit less attack and on top of Arts Damage, they can also deal elemental damage indicated by a red circle on the enemy. When the circle fills up, it explodes, dealing 7000 Elemental Damage and inflicting a 20% RES reduction for 10 seconds. This means now the enemy is under burn burst effect and there are some operators in Arknights that can take advantage of this status, e.g. deal extra elemental damage.

Blaze the Igniting Spark does exactly that. Not only can she inflict elemental injury, but she can also do even more damage to enemies already affected by Burn Burst. She debuted on a banner as a sidekick to limited operator Yu, and in many eyes, that diminished her value as a standalone operator.

I dare to digress. I believe Blaze the Igniting Spark to be a very competent operator both on her own as well as with burn team mates. She can dish out competitive DPS alongside many utilities that her kit provides.

Talents

Her first talent – Meltdown - has a global range - she will deal up to 380% of her ATK (at potential 5) as elemental damage to any enemy under burn damage burst and recover up to 15% max HP. Now and until chapter 15 in the story this damage can be considered true damage as there are no enemies with elemental resistance yet.

You can use this talent with her first and second skill or with any operator that can inflict burn damage (Yu, Bobbing, Viviana, Warmy, Ifrit with module BLA-Δ). You might be missing some of these operators, so consider using LootBar. Since that talent scales with her ATK, the more you buff her, the more damage burn proc will do. This becomes even stronger in Stationary Security Service when you equip her with ATK boosting tactical equipment or in Integrated Strategies with ATK relics.

Her second talent - From the Ashes - can be triggered an unlimited number of times. When Blaze the Igniting Spark receives a fatal blow, she becomes incapacitated instead of being defeated and retreated, which means she remains on the field, but she also

- stops attacking and can't use skills

- receives a barrier that can take in 6000 damage

- can't be stunned or frozen

- still recovers Skill Points

- can't be healed by targeted healing but can recover health through first talent – Meltdown and by indirect regeneration (Perfumer, Shu, Angelina, etc.)

- heals herself for 3.5% of max HP every second at potential 3

- when fully healed stuns all enemies in a 1.7 radius for 5 seconds and loses the Barrier

If her Barrier gets broken, e.g. by enemy attacks, she will be defeated and retreated.

This talent pretty much makes Blaze the Igniting Spark act as a ranged Dollkeeper.

Fun tip

You may have heard of some meme strategies like infinite Surtr S3 with many medics supporting her indefinitely. With Blaze alter, you can turn her into permanent stun lock machine. All you need to do is make her consistently take lethal damage and provide enough indirect healing to bring her back up in less than 5 seconds.

Potentials

When it comes to potentials - DP reduction of P2 and P6 does not benefit Blaze the Igniting Spark too much. Potential 3 makes her regenerate HP faster, which is pretty nice, but the real benefit comes from potential 4 and 5. She gains more ATK, which affects all her elemental damage and burn build up rate, and she gets a higher damage multiplier on her first talent. For all your potential needs use LootBar and save on Monthly Card and packs.

Skills

Her S1 Hand in Heated Hand targets the operator with the highest max HP in her range, herself included. That operator will obtain a red aura with a 1.7 tile radius that deals up to 70% her ATK as Arts damage and 30% of that damage as burn damage to all enemies surrounding that operator for 20 seconds. If you retreat Blaze, the red aura stays until the timer runs out. You can actually have two or more auras surrounding two or more operators, depending on your SP recovery rate, as the skill costs 16 skill points at mastery 3. The burn build-ups of each aura stack with each other, so you can double, or in extreme cases, triple burn build-up.

S2 Boiling Blood Ablaze has a big range of Phalanx Casters, and this is the skill that you want to use when deploying Blaze alter on her own. Her attack interval increases, but ATK goes up to 150% and she targets 3 enemies at once. Each attack deducts 5% of her max HP, which is very lore accurate as Blaze uses her blood to enhance her attacks in combat. Her attacks now leave burning tiles, which slow enemy movement by 50%, inflict 35% of her ATK as Arts damage and 30% of that damage as burn damage every second. She will not die from full HP with one skill activation. This is pretty much a true AOE skill, as there is no limit to how many units can be burned by her bloody tiles.

S3 Pyre of Perdition is where her massive DPS can shine when paired with other burn operators. Her range changes to very unique diamond shape similar to Eyafjalla's range on S3 but one tile smaller and extends in the direction she's facing. Her ATK goes up to +115%, attack interval reduces to 0.3 of a second, and she gains up to 25 ammo. Her attacks now deal AoE damage in a 1.7 radius around the target, and if the target is under burn burst, then they deal up to 80% ATK elemental damage. Blaze alter loses 3% of max HP per second while the skill is active, so you want to pair her with a medic because this skill might kill her. You can disable it manually. As a bonus, she will regain 2 ammo each time an enemy enters burn burst.

I would suggest to prioritize mastering S2 unless you want to use her exclusively with other burn element operators, then S3, and lastly S1.

Base skills

For base skills enthusiasts, Blaze alter can boost any Power Plant she works in by 20% on elite 2 with her Heat Charge γ, or speed up the training speed of any operator in the Training Room by 5% with her Best of Buds skill by working in the Control Center.

Now, let's dismantle the biggest myth about Blaze the Igniting Spark. Does she need Yu to function?

The answer is a definite NO. She can apply burn and deal elemental damage on her own with S1 and S2. Yes, her S3 benefits a lot from Yu or other operators that are able to inflict burn burst on enemies. But even without them, this skill will do enough damage to kill most of enemies including some elites and leaders.

So, should you pull and invest in Blaze the Igniting Spark?

In my opinion - and contradictory to popular opinions on Reddit and some YouTube content creators - definitely YES.

For beginners she provides a lot of utility, and for veteran dokutahs - she can be used alongside many operators to deal massive damage and live to her full potential. Speaking of which, if you are shy of a couple of Blaze alter's copies to maximize her potentials be sure to take advantage of cheaper Arknights Top Up for any in-game packs.

Let's summarize. Blaze the Igniting Spark

- is a ranged Dollkeeper

- can tank way more damage than Phalanx Casters

- has crowd control in her talent 2

- has a global range

- inflicts and takes advantage of burn

- can deal incredible damage in the right circumstances

- opens up lots of new strategies

- and most of all - she is sooo fun to use!

It's true that 6-star operators cost a lot of resources to build, and you should choose carefully who to prioritize. But damage is replaceable and can be easily powercrept, while utility - not so much. All the ways you can play around different stage mechanics thanks to Blaze the Igniting Spark's uniqueness makes her a great addition to any roster both in current meta and in the future.
