Diablo 4 Season 5 is nearly here, and we now have quite a lot of detail on what is changing. There’s a new seasonal event with a brand new questline and with a new Reputation Rank system. Alongside, there’s a major overhaul of many of the Uniques and Legendaries in the game, offering balance changes and fresh effects for even more build options for your gear. Here’s a closer look at all the Diablo 4 Season 5 changes coming to the game.

List of Diablo 4 Season 5 changes

Here are all the changes coming in Season 5:

  • Infernal Hordes – A wave-based activity that can be taken on solo or with friends. Select Infernal Offerings (a boon or bane to augment a run) between waves to increase the enemy’s potency and the final rewards.
  • Seasonal Questline – Access the new Infernal Hordes feature on both Realms, where it will be interwoven through a Seasonal Questline on the Seasonal Realm, and accessible after a brief new Questline on the Eternal Realm at World Tier III.
  • Fell Council – At the end of every Infernal Hordes run, players will face off against the Fell Council. There are 5 Fell Council members total and 3 different members will be selected at random to fight you. Be wary of their unique abilities in the various combinations you’ll encounter them.
  • Hellbreach Dungeons – New Hellbreach Dungeons will be available in the Seasonal Realm to give players a first taste of what to expect in Infernal Hordes. These dungeons will reward players with Burning Aether that can be spent on chests.
  • New Uniques and Legendaries – 50 are coming this Season and will persist beyond the Season’s end. Earn these items by slaying enemies across Sanctuary and in the Infernal Hordes.
  • Seasonal Progression – Earn Seasonal Progression by collecting caches that drop from slaying powerful servants of Hell. Once you’ve unlocked Seasonal Progression, Infernal Hordes will be one of the best ways to increase your reputation and earn caches throughout the Season.
  • Battle Pass and Season Journey – Earn even more rewards by progressing through the Season Journey and completing the new Battle Pass which features 28 Free Tiers and 62 Premium Tiers.
  • Gear Tampering – new buffs and affixes to buff class skills.
  • Weapons – Classes can use more weapon types.

Infernal Hordes

It is worth mentioning that the Infernal Hordes game mode is available for oth seasonal and eternal realm characters, culminating in a boss fight. It is a new way of getting gear with increasing challenges and odds. You’ll add resources called Infernal Compasses, which in turn, raises the challenge of the horde-based mode.

Depending on the difficulty and how well you perform will affect the quality of the gear and the rewards you get. There are 8 tiers of difficulty, with the reward options for players often being between gear, gold, and crafting materials. You’ll get the Burning Aether’s reward currency for the mode to get these rewards. You’ll find the mode is a great way to get your hands on the new Legendaries and Uniques, alongside large sums of gold and masterwork crafting items for upgrades and consumables.

Players will unlock the new mode upon reaching World Tier 3. via specific quest. But to access it, you’ll need an Infernal Compass. Infernal Compasses are drops in Nightmare Dungeons, Helltide Chests, and Whisper Caches.

In terms of its seasonal affix, you will instead find the new Hellbreach Dungeon. Hellbreaches are a taste of what to expect from Infernal Hordes. You’ll get Burning Aether from the event, but you must spend it at the end of the Hellbreach as the currency disappears after that.
