Automaton Defend Missions are similar to Eradicate Mission types, except the maps in this mode are much more vertical instead of horizontal. This means that setting up Turret stratagems like Mortar, Rockets, and Gattling Gun is much more beneficial in helping you take out the robot army.

The objective of the Defend Mission type requires defeating a certain number of automatons. Once you complete this objective, extract from the area solo or full squad and get the XP. The best part of doing this Mission type is that most of the time, all of the Turrets do the work for you in defeating automatons. The Mission itself can be completed in less than 12 minutes.

Play Side Missions

Most players like the idea of exploration while beating bugs to pulp and having a laugh with the party members. For this, always try to find and complete all the Side Missions. These give you extra XP on top of completing the Main Missions.

The overall XP you get to level up fast in Helldivers 2 from completing the Side Missions is less compared to the Main Mission. However, completing these is still worthwhile. Side Missions such as Spore Spewers can also give you Super Samples (Pink colored). For this, you need to destroy the Spore Spewer to be able to see and collect the rarer Samples.
