Summary

  • A livery that's half Xbox green, half PlayStation blue has been added to Forza Horizon 5.
  • The new paint job is a celebration of the formerly Xbox exclusive game now being available on PS5.
  • Anyone with the game can unlock the livery via the new Horizon Realms update.

Forza Horizon 5 launched on PS5 last month, becoming the most notable exclusive to bridge the gap between Xbox and PlayStation until Gears of War: Reloaded takes that crown later this year. To further demonstrate there is no console war anymore, Forza now has a livery that combines the core colors of both console creators.

The new paint job for Forza Horizon 5's Lamborghini Revuelto was revealed this week via the game's website. Labeled a symbol of celebration and unity, the livery is half Xbox green and half PlayStation blue. The front of the car is green with it gradually blending into blue for the rear of the design. I'm sure those who still think there's a console war being fought will have feelings about Xbox getting to be the front of the car.

I liken those who still think there's a console war between PlayStation and Xbox at this stage to the lost Japanese soldier who thought World War 2 was still going on 30 years after it ended.

Although the post doesn't mention PlayStation or the PS5 by name, it highlights that the Lamborghini livery has been created to celebrate players on other platforms, not just consoles, but also PC, being able to play together for the first time. You don't need to pay anything extra for the new paint job either. It's free via the new Horizon Realms update, regardless of your chosen platform.

A Car That Combines PlayStation And Xbox's Core Colors

Console War? What Console War?

via Xbox

The Revuelto is the only car that can wear the livery that combines Xbox and PlayStation colors, and to unlock it, you will need to head to the Find New Designs tab in-game and enter the code 687 884 132. You will naturally need to have unlocked the Revuelto before the livery can be applied.

If it wasn't evident already, Xbox appears to be in the process of making all of its exclusives cross-platform, even series that were previously so synonymous with Xbox that they have never been available on another console. The success of Forza Horizon 5 on PS5 will have only confirmed to Xbox that it's making the right decision. Less than a month in, and the racing game has reportedly already sold 1.4 million copies on PS5.

Gears of War: Reloaded is next, and it now feels like anything Xbox is on the table. It has to be more a question of when rather than if something from Halo eventually arrives on PS5, and maybe even the Nintendo Switch 2. My guess would be Starfield is next though with rumors it will be coming to PS5 circulating for months.
