The Target Detector is one such piece of equipment. It’s compact, portable, and can be used by pretty much everyone and it’s highly recommended to have one at all times. So if you’re curious about this unique and helpful tool, then here’s what you need to know about the Target Detector in BattleBit Remastered.

What Is The Target Detector?

If there’s one thing that will definitely give your team an edge, it’s the Target Detector. This snappy little gadget can be attached to the side rail of any weapon, whether that’s a long-range rifle, a small SMG or its big brother Assault Rifle, and even burly LMGs. Anyone on the team can have one.

The Target Detector basically highlights an enemy target with a small red triangle, though only infantry and not armored vehicles, and that highlight is displayed to every single member of your team. With how fast-paced and anarchic the battlefield can get, being able to tell friends from foes at a glance can make all the difference. Plus, it makes spotting snipers for the counter-sniper crews a lot easier.

A Ping marks a target longer than the Target Detector, but they’re only visible to your Squad members.

How To Use The Target Detector

The Target Detector is pretty much “idiot-proof”. To use it, aim down your weapons sight at an enemy and keep them in the center of your cross-hairs, or as close to it as you can. After a few seconds, the Target Detector will “Spot” them and apply a red upside-down triangle above their head.

This helpful gadget has no cooldown, so you can just hold your gunsight over an area and the Target Detector will happily ping anyone who walks in front of it. Everyone on your team can see this enemy outline, so it’s highly advantageous to have a dedicated spotter group that can detect targets for the team.

To unlock the Target Detector for a weapon, you simply have to get 90 kills with that particular gun. The unlock message will display and all you need to do is pop into the Loadout menu of your class and equip it. This is done by selecting the Side-Rail of your weapon and picking the Target Detector from the drop-down menu, it’s as easy as that.

The Target Detector will pick up an enemy whether it’s aimed at their head, torso, or legs.

Target Detector Tips

Now that you’ve got your Target Detector attached to your gun of choice, it’s worth running through a couple of tips to ensure you make the most of this handy little gadget. It can be a little finicky at times, but it’s overall worth the time investment to unlock.

So once you finally get your hands on it, here are a few handy things to keep in mind as you go running around with the Target Detector in BattleBit Remastered.

Don’t Worry About Follow-Through

What we mean by this is don’t worry about chasing down a target after you’ve marked them, especially if they’re far away. The Target Detectors red mark will hang around on someone for around 30 seconds or so, and they’re highlighted to your team. So if you don’t shoot them, at least someone else will.

With how hectic and populated the battlefield can get it usually doesn’t take long for someone to get clipped by an errant bullet or HE shell. You’re helping the team if you’re marking targets and with how insanely fast the time-to-kill is they'll be dead quickly, you're just streamlining the process.

Always Keep A Spotter In The Squad

There’s space for multiple people in your average Squad in BattleBit Remastered and whilst having a good variety of classes is always beneficial, it helps even more if your crew is packing a particular loadout. In this case, it’s always a bonus to have someone with a Target Detector.

Since good Squads always stay together, marking the nearest threat for your battle buddies will not only keep them alive, but it does help the overall flow of the fight. Plus, having a good synergy as you take down more threats means you’ll end up with some nice bragging rights if your Squad outperforms everyone else.

Know The Range

Whilst the Target Detector is pretty good when it comes to its usefulness, unfortunately, it does come with some restrictions. First, it can only pick up one target at a time, and second, it has a finite range. It’ll pick targets from five to around 50 meters away, but anything further and it’s not going to register.

Whilst this won’t be much of an issue for someone assaulting a position or an MG gunner in a target-rich environment, for snipers it might cause some issues. So don’t expect to be able to ping someone halfway across the map, know how far it will register a threat, and work that into your killing fields or spotter positions to make sure you don’t miss anyone sneaking past.

Target Detection Works Both Ways

One important thing to keep in mind as you’re merrily running around with your new Target Detector gizmo strapped to your rifle is that this piece of kit works both ways. The enemy team has Target Detectors too, and they’ll most likely be using them to mark your teammates, or worse, you.

However, they do have to contend with the same limitations as you do. Such as only being able to mark one target at a time and of course the previously mentioned limitations in range. So if you find yourself suddenly lit up when you thought you were concealed, there’s a likely chance a Target Detector was used. So try to position yourself behind cover, and only pop out very briefly to spot targets or take shots. The Target Detector needs around three seconds to lock, so keep yourself hidden.

A good tip for keeping in mind whilst being in cover is, if you can see them, they can see you. And if they can't see you, you should reposition and try to ambush them.

Don’t Use Other Attachments

There are a lot of unique and useful weapon customizations available in BattleBit Remastered, but honestly, you’re not going to need them all or find them particularly beneficial. Whilst new stocks, rails, scopes and other add-ons do provide small incremental stat boosts, others like the flashlight and laser sight are pretty useless.

The time to kill is so quick, the battlefield so full of targets that they’re more of a liability for getting spotted easier than an asset. Your best attachment, aside from suppressors and a big magazine, is going to be the Target Detector. It’s so perfect for spotting threats, especially those that like to hide in bushes or at the lip of cliffs and rooftops that the Target Detector is borderline mandatory to use.
