Reprints are a big part of any Magic: The Gathering set. These new versions of classic cards can crop up anywhere in a set, and tend to determine which of the Commander precon decks will surpass their MSRP and which ones will fall in value prior to launch. The overall quality of the decks also plays a role, but reprint value is a major consideration for investors and players alike.

I'll be taking a look at the most expensive reprints from the Marvel Super Heroes set, including the Commander precons, and ranking them based on the market value of the most expensive version currently available.

In some cases, Secret Lair versions of these cards exist, but they will not be factored in, as they are often extremely limited, which artificially inflates their value.

7 Helm Of The Host - $31.49

Part Of Wakanda Forever Commander Precon

This list starts with Helm of the Host, a fairly reasonable reprint of just over $31, with that variant being a prerelease foil from Dominaria in 2018. This card comes from a time when prerelease promo cards were stamped with the date of the prerelease event, but that practice has since been discontinued. Other versions of this card range from $17 to $7.

Given that the Wakanda Forever deck focuses on artifacts, this equipment is extremely powerful, as it will create non-legendary copies of whichever creature it is attached to at the beginning of combat on your turn, and they also have Haste. It's a costly card, however, as it costs four colorless mana to cast, then a further five to attach to a creature.

6 Black Market Connections - $32.21

Part Of Doom Prevails Commander Precon

Black Market Connections is a card with few reprints or variants on the market right now, so this particular version was always going to be welcome. That being said, the most valuable existing version is just over $32, so far from unaffordable, and it comes from the Assassin's Creed Universes Beyond release.

Assassin's Creed was not like the current Universes Beyond sets and was not Standard-legal.

This three-mana (1B, 2C) lets you pick one, two, or three of the given options on the card at the beginning of your main phase. You can either create a treasure token and lose one life, draw a card and lose two life, or create a 3/2 colorless shapeshifter creature token and lose three life.

It's got great synergy in this Villain-heavy deck, but you will have to play fast and loose with your life total to make the most of it, and you are forced to pick at least one of the options every turn.

5 Luxury Suite - $36.65

Part Of Doom Prevails Commander Precon

Up next is Luxury Suite, a highly playable red and black land that is worth over $36 for the Battle for Baldur's Gate prerelease variant, but unlike many of the other cards on this list, the value of the other versions is very similar, ranging from $36 to only as low as $20. This Marvel Super Heroes reprint will take the number of available copies from five to eight, which will have a sizable impact on price.

Luxury Suite is a red and black dual land that enters tapped unless you have two or more opponents, meaning in Commander, it's a dual land that is going to enter untapped more often than not, which is a must-have for any deck containing red and black cards.

4 Archangel Of Thune - $64.48

Reprinted As Heaven-Sent Marvel

The Source Material cards are typically a good place for valuable reprints to resurface, and in this case, Archangel of Thune is a $64 card, if you ignore the Secret Lair variant, which we aren't counting for this list.

This version of the card features art from Captain Marvel volume seven, issue number nine. It's a much-needed reprint given that the card's value has continued to climb recently, although there still may be one more reprint to come this year, as one is rumored to be part of the leaked Hatsune Miku Secret Lair deck.

3 Kindred Discovery - $95.58

Part Of Avengers Assemble Commander Precon

Secret Lair cards may not count towards the value of reprints, but rare variables are fair game, and that's what has Kindred Discovery so high on this list. The Anime Borderless Confetti Foil variant from Wilds of Eldraine is the card in question, with all other variants floating between $10 and $20.

When this enchantment enters play, you choose a creature type, then, whenever a creature you control of the chosen type attacks or enters play, you draw a card.

2 Teferi's Protection - $103.03

Reprinted As T'Challa's Protection

The last printing of Teferi's Protection was during the Source Material portion of the Avatar: The Last Airbender set, but that copy is only worth around $44 at the time of writing. The most valuable copy, according to TCGPlayer, is the foil etched Japanese Strixhaven Mystical Archives card from the OG Strixhaven: School of Mages set in 2021.

Most versions of this card are floating around the $50 to $60 mark, but given the popularity of the Mystical Archives, it's understandable why that specific variant is so expensive.

This instant spell protects your life total, meaning it can't go up or down, and you also gain protection from everything until your next turn. All of your permanents also phase out until your next turn. Teferi's Protection must be exiled after use.

1 Birds Of Paradise - $275.00

Part Of The Wakanda Forever Commander Precon

The most expensive reprint in the Marvel Super Heroes MTG set is Birds of Paradise, which has a variant with a market value of $275. Granted, this variant is from way back in Unlimited, originally released in 1993. There is a more expensive version of this card, but it's serialized, which felt unfair to include given the limited nature, especially if I'm already excluding Secret Lairs for the same reason.

Remaining variants of the card range from $10 to $185, depending on the card's age, set, and condition.

This one mana (1G) creature is a 0/1 flying bird that can be tapped to add one mana of any color.

Because it doesn't have Haste, Birds of Paradise can only be tapped for mana once summoning sickness has passed.
