Leveling skills is one of the most tedious parts of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered. While the game has made some major changes to how most skills are leveled, it can still take hours of your time to hit rank 100 in certain skill categories, notably Athletics and Acrobatics.

Look cool as hell.
PostsFortunately, Virtuous made all disciplines of magic significantly easier to level in the remastered version of Oblivion, now scaling off your spell's Magicka cost instead of sheer spell quantity. Today, we'll be recommending spells you can use to level each school of magic as quickly as possible. Recommendations are for Oblivion Remastered. If you're playing the 2006 version of Oblivion, we suggest making the cheapest magic spell and spamming it instead.

Shield: 5% for 30s on self.
Source
Edgar's Discounted Spells - Imperial City Market District
When first starting out, the best spell you can use to power level is the Shield spell from Edgar's Discounted Spells, located in the Imperial City's Market District. You can cast this at any Alteration level, making it a great way to hit Apprentice (Alteration 25).
Once you get to a higher rank, you can use spellcrafting to create a stronger version of this spell with a higher magnitude and/or duration. Your goal is to get the highest Magicka cost possible that your character can handle at that level. Thankfully, we've done the hard part for you. Here are the spells you need to craft.
- Apprentice (R25): Shield 56% on self for 8 seconds.
- Adept (R50): Shield 68% on self for 15 seconds.
- Expert (R75): Shield 98% on self for 25 seconds.
If you don't have enough total Magicka to cast these spells, reduce their magnitude values until you can cast them. Rest between each cast to refill your Magicka, or consider spamming Restore Magicka flasks to refill your reserves as quickly as possible. XP is earned based on mana spent in Oblivion Remastered, so make sure you're using the highest-cost spell possible; spamming low-level spells is no longer required.

Summon Skeleton for 30s.
Source
Mystic Emporium - Imperial City Market District
Your best bet for leveling Conjuration is to use Summon Skeleton, a starting Conjuration spell that you'll automatically unlock if you tag it as a Major Skill. If you did not, you can grab Summon Skeleton from Calindil in the Mystic Emporium shop, located within the Market District of the Imperial City.
Once you've leveled your Conjuration to 25, you'll want to craft a stronger version of Summon Skeleton to maximize your Magicka spent, as this dictates how much XP you earn per cast. The more Magicka you spend, the more XP you'll earn. After you hit R50, grab Summon Scamp to level the rest of the way. Most members of the Mages Guild have this spell in stock.
- Apprentice (R25): Summon Skeleton for 55 seconds.
- Adept (R50): Summon Scamp for 49 seconds.
- Expert (R75): Summon Scamp for 120 seconds.
Leveling Destruction

Flare: Deals 5 damage to target.
Source
Default spell
You can start to level Destruction with the Flare spell, which you will always start with regardless of Major Skills. Destruction only gains XP if your spell damages something, so you'll need to use Flare against a living enemy. We recommend fighting in the Arena to get some easy hits on targets. Kite them around the arena while you spam this spell until you hit 25 Destruction.
At Apprentice level, you can either buy low-cost Destruction spells from merchants or create a self-targeted damage spell. Be wary that self-targeted spells can kill you. We won't be giving recommendations on spell crafts here since it'll depend on your character's max HP or tolerance for spamming spells on monsters. If you can, maximize the duration first, then up the magnitude as much as you can until you can't cast the spell anymore.

Starlight: Light in 20ft for 60s on self.

Edgar's Discounted Spells - Imperial City Market District
Illusion's best spell for leveling is Starlight, a light spell you can purchase from Edgar in Edgar's discounted Spells shop within the Imperial City. The spell is relatively cheap and doesn't require any Illusion skill to cast. Once you get a few levels in Illusion, you can use Spellcrafting to make stronger versions of Starlight to speed up your XP farming. Craft the following spells.
- Apprentice (R25): Light in 83ft for 43s on self.
- Adept (R50): Light in 100ft for 81s on self.
- Expert (R75): Light in 10ft for 96s on target (100 magnitude).

Minor Life Detection: Detect Life in 60ft for 10s on self.
Source
Edgar's Discounted Spells - Imperial City Market District
If you need to level Mysticism to 25, you can use Clairvoyance. This spell is known by default, regardless of your chosen class.
The best spell for power leveling Mysticism is Life Detection. You can get a cheap version of this spell at Edgar's Discounted Spells in the Imperial City. Cast this until you get your Mysticism to 25, then craft some stronger variants of the Life Detection spell for each skill threshold. The following spells are tuned to maximize their Magicka cost per rank.
- Apprentice (R25): Detect Life in 26ft for 120s on self.
- Adept (R50): Detect Life in 74ft for 75s on self.
- Expert (R75): Detect Life in 100ft for 120s on self.

Heal Minor Wounds
Source
Default spell
Restoration levels up so quickly in Oblivion Remastered that you don't need to spam specific spells. Heal Minor Wounds is a starter spell for every class and levels up Restoration surprisingly fast. Once you can craft spells, create stronger versions of this healing spell until you hit rank 100. Optimal values are listed below.
- Apprentice (R25): Heal 25pts for 1s on self.
- Adept (R50): Heal 29pts for 2s on self.
- Expert (R75): Heal 45pts for 3s on self.
