Square Enix Unveils Chocobo-Themed Steam Decks for FFVII Rebirth

In an exciting development for gamers, Square Enix has confirmed that Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is officially verified for the Steam Deck. To further celebrate this milestone, the company announced the upcoming giveaway of Steam Decks that will feature designs inspired by the beloved Chocobo mascot from the Final Fantasy series. However, details regarding the contest mechanics have yet to be released.

An official video has been shared showcasing the stunning design of the Chocobo-themed Steam Deck. The video opens with a unique custom animation styled for the Steam Big Picture Mode, setting the stage for an immersive gaming experience. As the device powers on, fans are greeted with the iconic Chocobo “wark,” accompanied by a vibrant yellow background featuring feather motifs. This transitions into a white screen adorned with the FFVII Rebirth logo, heightening excitement for what’s to come.

User Interface and Game Features

Once the device is up and running, the Steam Big Picture Mode interface prominently displays FFVII Rebirth as the featured title ready to play. Users can also spot additional titles in the Current Game row, including FFVII Remake and Crisis Core: FFVII Reunion, ensuring a rich library of classic games is just a click away. The footage continues with gameplay showcasing the robust capabilities of the Steam Deck, before concluding with a detailed view of the system’s front and back covers, which are enhanced with yellow feathers and accented with brown leather labels stating “Square Enix” and “Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.”

Release Date and Availability

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is slated for release on PC on January 23, 2025. Currently, players can enjoy the second installment of the FFVII remake series, which is available on PS5. The original FFVII Remake can be played on PS4, PS5, and PC, while development is underway for a third entry in the series.
