Diablo 4 reintroduces iconic classes from the series, allowing players to confront the demonic forces of Hell once more. Among these, the Necromancer stands out as a powerful choice, returning at launch as a strong contender. Mastering dark arts such as raising the dead, unleashing bone projectiles, and causing corpses to explode, the Necromancer offers a rich gameplay experience.

The Necromancer’s unique ability to summon a golem minion sets this class apart. This formidable creature acts as a tank on the battlefield, capable of absorbing damage and diverting enemy attention. However, players must navigate a series of tasks to unlock this exciting feature. This guide provides comprehensive instructions on how to obtain and summon the golem in Diablo 4.

When Can the Necromancer Get a Golem in Diablo IV?

To access the Golem ability, players must first elevate their Necromancer character to Level 25. This unlocks the quest titled “Necromancer: Call of the Underworld.”

The quest begins at the **Sarkova Pass** location within the Fractured Peaks. Here, players will encounter a statue that initiates a summoning by revealing the ghost of Maltorius. He will instruct the player to gather 12 Unbroken Bones, which can be collected from various enemies in the vicinity, to construct their golem’s body.

Once the Unbroken Bones are delivered, Maltorius will guide players to retrieve a corrupt artifact from the nearby Bitter Cave, located just south of the statue.

This cave features a straightforward layout consisting of a corridor leading to a chamber inhabited by a Jar of Souls. Interacting with this jar triggers a wave of enemies that must be defeated to fill it with souls successfully.

Upon completing this challenge, Maltorius will return for a ritual that ultimately unlocks the Golem skill.

How to Summon the Golem

Summoning the golem in Diablo 4 mirrors the process of raising the dead. Players must assign the Golem skill to their action bar to facilitate this summoning. As long as the skill remains equipped, the golem will stay active.

If initiated while the golem is already present, this skill grants the golem an “Unstoppable”status, compelling it to taunt enemies and absorb reduced damage temporarily. This feature is particularly advantageous for diverting enemy fire away from the Necromancer and their summoned skeletons.

How to Summon Blood and Iron Golems

Initially, players will only have access to the Bone Golem. As they progress in levels, they will unlock the Blood and Iron Golems within the Book of the Dead mechanic. The Blood Golem becomes available at level 28, while the Iron Golem is unlocked at level 32.

The Blood Golem is essential for enhancing player survivability, as it absorbs a portion of incoming damage. With its second upgrade, it can dish out and absorb even more damage when its health exceeds 80%. Sacrificing this Golem variant grants the player a bonus to Maximum Life.

Conversely, the Iron Golem excels at crowd control with AOE shockwaves and slams, granting increased Critical Strike Damage when sacrificed. This golem is particularly effective for builds focusing on Bone Spear, due to the additional crit damage benefits.
