Hollow Knight: Silksong Guide to Easily Defeat Moorwing
Hollow Knight: Silksong can be an exceptionally challenging game, similar to its predecessor. Players will inevitably encounter skill checks and roadblocks presented by various bosses or challenges. Personally, I faced a significant hurdle early in the Greymoor area during an intense wave battle against a swarm of relentless birds that tested my patience.
After that frustrating encounter with the avian foes, I found myself at a boss fight against Moorwing, who is notorious for being particularly difficult, as echoed by my fellow gamers. However, I have yet to experience Moorwing’s true challenge.
Fortunately, there exists a rather straightforward method to exploit this boss if you find yourself feeling overwhelmed. While I don’t condone this tactic – after all, the appeal of Silksong lies in its engaging and tough boss mechanics – some players may feel compelled to take this route.
As avid Soulslike players know, it’s not uncommon to rely on less-than-honorable strategies occasionally. Who hasn’t utilized an exploit or two when facing formidable adversaries in games from FromSoftware, right?
If you’re in dire straits or wish to bypass a challenging encounter with Moorwing, here’s a guide on how to exploit the fight to your advantage. Keep in mind, this strategy works as of this writing, but there’s no guarantee that Team Cherry will leave it unpatched for long.
How to Exploit Moorwing
The unique aspect of the Moorwing encounter is that it does not take place in an enclosed arena, unlike previous boss fights. This allows you to trigger the battle and then quickly retreat. After Moorwing’s ominous roar and his name appearing on the screen, swiftly turn around and head back to your previous location.
Utilize the jetstream you just descended before entering the boss area to ride back upwards.
When you reach the left platform, continue moving in the same direction. Below the gap in the floor from the upper Greymoor area, you’ll spot poor Moorwing attempting to approach you. Unfortunately for him, you’re denying him his moment of victory.
Despite his efforts, Moorwing will be aggroed and will fly beneath your platform. The separation between you provides safety, allowing you to attack without fear of reprisal.
To damage Moorwing, wait until he is directly below you. Jump and perform a downward diagonal slash with your needle. If timed properly, you will land a hit on him.
Repeat this process until he staggers and drops to the ground. After taking a brief pause, he will return, requiring you to perform this strategy approximately three more times to ensure his defeat.
Once he falls, you can proceed through his empty arena and onward to Haunted Bellhart. Congratulations on your victory!
