The buzz surrounding a potential Avowed PlayStation 5 port is intensifying as the release date nears. Rumors Surrounding the PS5 Port of Avowed
In recent months, considerable conversations have emerged regarding Xbox’s strategy of transitioning some of its exclusive titles to the PlayStation 5 platform. High-profile Xbox titles, including Forza Horizon 5—a notable success for Xbox Series X and S—are slated for a PS5 release this Spring. Fans of the PlayStation are also awaiting the anticipated release of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle as well as The Outer Worlds 2, which has confirmed its debut on PS5 since the Game Awards last December.
The latest wave of speculation has not only engulfed established franchises such as Halo and Gears of War but also extends to new intellectual properties like Avowed. Currently, Avowed is confirmed for both Xbox and PC, but a notable moment occurred during a recent MinnMax Rapid-Fire interview featuring director Carrie Patel. In an unexpected turn of events, host Ben Hanson proposed that Avowed might eventually make its way to PlayStation 5. Patel’s candid yet cautious response—a brief nod followed by a dismissive shrug—has left fans speculating the possibility.
While Patel’s reaction does not provide concrete evidence of a future PS5 version, the trend of Xbox games migrating to PlayStation consoles suggests that this could be a distinct possibility. Given the existing relationship with multiplatform titles, Avowed stands out as the more likely candidate for future cross-platform availability, especially considering that The Outer Worlds 2 is a sequel derived from a game accessible on multiple platforms.
As the clock ticks down to the February 18 launch, gamers on Xbox and PC platforms, along with Game Pass subscribers, are eagerly awaiting Obsidian’s entrance into the fantasy RPG genre with Avowed. This title is one of the most highly anticipated RPGs of 2025, alongside others like Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. Ultimately, it remains to be seen if Avowed will eventually grace the PlayStation 5, be it in three, six, or twelve months down the line.
