The classic clan of mTw

Mortal TeamWork, more known as mTw.PokerRoom, is one of the oldest clans on the European WarCraft III scene. Their first appearance in the WC3L was back in 2002 where they ended third in the second season. Since then, mTw has participated in every season, claiming the title twice in the third and fifth seasons of the league. The team has housed some legendary players like DIDI8, Gostridah, ShocK, LasH and Tak3r. In November 2005 the clan dropped it's international squad due to lacking results but in May this year they decided to give it another shot as they recruited their current squad.

As it is today, the team is greatly influenced by it's Americans. The gang from clans like United5, hoorai and starComa are still sticking together in mTw as most inactive and former players are kept in the organisation. Among them, we find NilknarfLP, by many considered as the best American player around, along with this year's United States WCG champion LongWalk and the Canadian Orc player KiWiKaKi. Together with talented Europeans like NightWOlf and Protois, mTw has a diverse and talented squad. Although the team might not be among the very best, they still manage to hold their own in the WarCraft III Champions League and NGL-One.

mTw.PokerRoom0-0 SK GamingAfter losing to 4Kings in the WC3L premiere, mTw impressively striked back by crushing Team NoA in the following playday. However, they lost yet again to wNv, but since then they've beaten both BeT, fnatic and are currently tied at 2-2 with mouz. At the moment, they are placed fifth in the table with the same amount of points as NoA and defs in third and fourth place. Their most prominent players so far has been NightWOlf, who's so far taken down the likes of NoA.Ohjie and wNv.TH_000, and NilknarfLP. The latter has to and fro been considered as one of the best Human players in the world and, though he's rarely seen at any major events, he's certainly not disappointed anyone as he's beaten 4K^DeMusliM, BeT.ShowBu and fnatic.RotterdaM this season.

The competition seems to be closer than ever this season, seeing as teams that were previously at the top has rapidly dropped to the bottom and vice versa. World Elite will be the next opponent for mTw and their chances definetly look strong as the Chinese side's been in a bit of a slump lately, recently losing to defs and dropping to the bottom end of the table. Beyond that, another three games await mTw, one of them against this season's giants MeetYourMakers which might prove to be an overwhelming task. Regardless, mTw has been doing very well and if they keep performing and improving they could end up finding themselves at the offline finals.

NGL-One Season 4 commencing

As the new season NGL-One season kicked off last week, mTw has yet to play their first match in it. On Sunday, however, they'll be battling on two extremely difficult fronts as they take on both MeetYourMakers and 4Kings on the very same day. Last season mTw ended in 7th place, but were never in any real danger of getting knocked down to the NGL-Two. As they've had an impressive WC3L season so far, they're certainly a force to reckon with in the NGL-One as well. The NGL game format doesn't seems to suit mTw as well as the WC3L format. Though there's no doubt they're a solid team, they lack a star player that can turn a game on his own. In the NGL, players with such qualities are very important if you want to stand a chance against the top teams. We saw proof of this at last season's playoffs a while back, where mouz.Fly100% more or less single handedly knocked out 4Kings. But who knows, maybe a player who posesses such qualities will emerge during the season?

Interview with rukie - Manager of the Mortals

GosuGamers caught up with rukie, who is the Team Manager of mTw, for an interview.

Hi rukie! Would you mind giving us a short introduction of yourself?
- Hi, my name is Christopher Pawlowski, a 21 year old Law student from Germany. Currently, I'm managing the mTw Warcraft Team.

You're quite an experienced manager as you've lead teams like armaTeam and Ownage. Since you teamed up with hoorai you've more or less been working with the same group of players. Is there a reason you and the players decided to stick togehter for so long?
- It's just a great bunch of people. We've had so much fun in the past. Due to the fact that this team even survives periods without any sponsors it is still out there. I've never experienced such a high teamspirit in any team before.

We've seen some great results from your team in the WC3L this season. Do you think you can make it all the way to the offline finals? If so, what do you think it will it take to achieve that goal?
- Yeah, this season is going really good for us so far. We were a bit lucky that the only match we really didn't perform well in got deleted. But for the other games I'm really satisfied with what we showed so far. Our goal is to reach Top 6 and if this comes true we will see what is possible.

“ I've never experienced such a high teamspirit in any team before.
- mTw|rukieTo talk about reaching the offline finals is really too early as this is maybe the closest season WC3L has ever seen. We just need to take the third point against mouz and win some of the remaining matches. If we do that, a result within the Top 6 is possible. And we need to avoid any 1:4 and 0:5 results. Then we are okay I guess. =)

The NGL-One recently started it's fourth season. How important is that league to you compared to the WC3L?
- We take both leagues serious, because there are a lot of great teams in both of them. It's interesting to play in different leagues with different match systems. And for sure I want to see my guys in one of the Top 4 spots at the end of the season as well.

Who would you say is your most important player and why.
- That's a question I can't answer right now. Last season it was without a doubt Nilknarf as he scored so many points. But since the day we joined mTw and got those new players, we have more guys that score regularly. NightWolf, Hanf, Protois and Nilknarf all scored some points for the team this season. But it's astonishing to me that KiWiKaKi comes in and wins 3 consecutive matches. So we don't really have an MVP. The team is the MVP.

How is mTw compared to previous organisations you've been in? In which ways do they support the team?
- It's just perfect. In the past I experienced a lot of lying and promises that were not kept. In mTw everything they had promised at the start came true. They support us in every way. The players got all they need. And then the big advantage is that the management is German and I can stay in contact with them almost daily. Big thanks to our sponsors PokerRoom.com, Speedlink, Doomster, Enermax and NEC.

Well then, that concludes this interview. Thank you for your time and good luck to you and your team. Any final words you wish to share with us?
- I want to thank my players for the nice time we spend and mTw for the mentioned support. And for all our fans out there: Prepare for some thrilling and nice matches and a lot more good results.
