For the first time ever in the history of professional gaming in Korea, the GOM TV Star Invitational will be broadcasted and streamed live over the internet in English to fans all around the world with Nick "Tasteless" Plott as the voice of Korean gaming for the world.



It has been many years since the professional gaming scene in Korea took off gaining a large of amount of popularity amongst the Korean population and online community. Now that same fervor and interest in the game outside of Korea has finally been noticed. Just today Gretech, a Korean-based IT venture company, launched an English version of the GOM TV Star Invitational website. With it came this message:

Games will be broadcast live both in English and Korean

SEOUL, South Korea, February 5, 2008 - Gretech Corporation of South Korea announced today that it will begin XNOTE-Intel Centrino GomTV Star Invitational, a StarCraft game league made up of the world's best players sponsored by Gretech and supported by XNOTE and Intel.
Yes, it is indeed true. The Gretech corporation that operates the Korean software company GOM has decided to broadcast the GOM TV Star Invitational in English. Not unexpected, the man of the hour is surely Nicholas "Tasteless" Alexander Plott, who will be broadcasting the games live in English.

The Tournament
The GOM TV Star Invitiational will be broadcasted exclusively on the GOM TV player. In preparation for the World-wide response to this Gretech has invested over $1,000,000 USD in maintaining network stability and has prepared their network for up to 40,000 concurrent viewers online and has set up streaming servers in the U.S. and Japan. They have also hired a 24/7 server maintenance crew to be on stand-by while the league is running. The tournament itself is made up of four groups of four players which were invited to the tournament.

The Caster
Nick "Tasteless" Plott is a well known player and caster in the StarCraft community as the most successful shoutcaster in StarCraft. Having attended numerous events, whether it was World Cyber Games or Blizzard invitationals, he has entertained and enlightened us with his unique style of shoutcasting. Over the years it is this style that has garnered much praise from the community and has even helped built him a small fan base of listeners.

A month ago he had be given the chance to go to Korea to shoutcast and without hesitation he took the opportunity to fly over to Korea and become a representative of the StarCraft community outside of Korea. Up until a few days ago it was unclear as to what his first job was going to be but now we can all delight in knowing that it will be his voice and face that we see during the broadcasts of the GOM TV Star Invitational in Korea.

The Schedule
So far the schedule for the group stages have gone up. They will take place from February 17th to the 20th with each day given to one group.

How to View
To view all the games you will need to download the GomTV player, available at the GomTV site. Matches will be available for download and streaming live.

This is a large step for the Korean company by taking advances towards creating wider accessibility to the StarCraft community outside of Korea. This however is a bigger leap for the fans and members of the StarCraft community outside of Korea as well. As the community we now have a chance to show how big our numbers really are and how excited we are for the Korean progaming. So get your GOM players ready for some progaming action!
