In less than five hours, Heroes of the Storm will officially enter the next stage in the BlizzCon qualification process. The best teams from North America, South America, South East Asia and Australia/New Zealand have been flown in to Las Vegas to decide which two teams will be able to compete at BlizzCon. A total of eight teams, five from NA and one from every other mentioned region, have qualified for this major event by winning various tournaments in the past few months.

  • Tempo Storm qualified by winning the NA June Open, and went on to win the NA July and NA August Opens as well.
  • Cloud9 qualified by finishing second place in the NA July Open, and was the runner-up in July and August as well.
  • COGnitive Gaming qualified by finishing third place in the NA July Open.
  • Team Immunity qualified by winning the ANZ Championship.
  • Relics qualified by winning the SEA Championship.
  • compLexity Gaming qualified by finishing third place in the NA August Open
  • Murloc Geniuses qualified by finishing fourth place in the NA August Open
  • Furious Gaming is replacing Brave Ozone, who won the Copa America. Furious Gaming finished third in that same event.

The teams have been divided into two groups for the first half of the tournament. Within these groups, they will meet each other and decide the top two teams of each group. After this group stage, we will be left with four teams that will compete in a single elimination bracket. All matches this weekend will be Best of 3's, including the finals.

Today we will be seeing a total of 8 matchups. After these 8 matches, the top team of each group will be known. Tomorrow we will start off the day with deciding the second place finishers in each group, after which the semifinals and finals will be played.
Besides the BlizzCon tickets, all teams will also be fighting for a total prize pool of $100,000 USD. The winner will go home with $40,000 USD, the other finalist will win $24,000 USD, the 3rd and 4th place finishers will each win $12,000 USD and even the 5th and 6th teams will each go home with $3,000 USD.

The entire event is hosted and casted by this group of experienced individuals:

The whole event will of course be streamed live on Twitch.TV here, and will kick off Saturday and Sunday at 10:00 AM PDT. Tempo Storm will face Murloc Geniuses in the opening match.
