A shocking weekend full of upsets takes one team through to the MPL ID Season 11 playoffs.

With the shortened regular season for the Mobile Legends Professional League in Indonesia, we now only have two weeks before the Playoffs. Even so, one team has already secured their spot in the next stage, while one of the top teams saw their usual spectacular performances slip away during week 4.

ONIC ahead

Having not dropped a full series, ONIC Esports are comfortably miles ahead of the pack in the Indonesian MPL during Season 11. Although RRQ do sometimes get the drop on them, the yellow porcupines have marched their way through to an extremely early securing of a playoffs spot. With only a few games dropped, and only two weeks left to go for the Regular Season, ONIC seem likely to obtain another MPL championship for themselves, but only time will tell if things will change during the next stage.

RRQ’s troubles

In three games over three days, RRQ went from one of the best teams in the region, and even the world, to somewhat of a slump. Three teams which would normally be no problem for the Kings of Kings managed to get the jump on them. Having won the first game in every series, it seemed as though the team just lost their nerve, while their opponents figured them out at every turn. RRQ will have a chance to return to their winning ways over the coming weekend as they face off against ONIC – a series which is always a fantastic show of skill.

Altering their path

We cannot talk about the downward spiral of RRQ without mentioning the amazing upward trajectory which we saw from Alter Ego, finally. After having a really rough few weeks, trying to find themselves in the meta, AE seem to have settled into their stride. Opening with an emphatic victory over a strong EVOS Legends, AE marched into RRQ and even secured a SAVAGE for Nino in Game three's win. There is still a lot of work to do for AE, especially with ONIC on their radar this weekend, as well as Rebellion Zion.

While there were some rather big upsets, especially for those in the Kings of Kings camp, Week 5 could still change, adjust, or fix everything for all teams involved. With this being the penultimate weekend of Regular Season, there is everything to play for at MPL ID Season 11.
