Thai player Mikagami of team TCG became the penultimate GosuCup SEA champion for this season, as he defeated AkiSera 3-2 in the finals. This is also the fourth silver medal for the Malaysian.

Thailand has been struggling. Points-wise, it sat on the second to last spot in the SEA nation standings, as its representatives had only accumulated nine points. With the player population in the country being smaller than those of the leaders from Philippines, Singapore and Malaysia, good players were scarce and high finishes even more so.

This weekend, one Thai finally found the strength to represent his country, scoring a victory just before the end of the season. Mikagami endured a tough run through GosuCup SEA #15, with all of his series but one going the distance, before he could play and defeat one of SEA’s brightest, most experienced talents in AkiSera.

And while the win was sweet for Mikagami and Thailand, it stung for AkiSera. The Malaysian who won the GosuCup 2014 season is still lacking gold in the 2015 circuit. So much, in fact, that this is his fourth second place finish in four grand finals this season.

Make sure to sign up for the very last GosuCup this season, coming this Saturday, July 18th, starting 13:00 SGT.
