Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 reveal date locked in as Kingdom Hearts 4 progresses smoothly

Two of Square Enix’s biggest sagas are quietly taking shape.
The finale of Square Enix’s Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy is steadily moving forward, and fans now know that the reveal date is already set. Following the release of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth last year, producer Tetsuya Nomura offered an update during a recent Final Fantasy 7 Ever Crisis livestream.
“It is going very smoothly,” Nomura said, in comments translated by Genki JPN on X. “The announcement timing has been decided, and we will stick to that schedule, so please rest assured and wait.”
Progress on two major series
Alongside news of Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3, Nomura also spoke about Kingdom Hearts 4, confirming that development is advancing as expected. “Kingdom Hearts 4 is also progressing well and according to schedule,” he remarked. While he refrained from sharing further details, the reassurance was welcomed by fans waiting for the next chapter of Sora’s journey.
The livestream followed remarks from co-director Motomu Toriyama, who had hinted earlier in the year that some news on Part 3 would surface by now. Nomura’s update, though brief, clarified that both projects remain firmly on track. The full broadcast is available here.
What’s next for Final Fantasy 7 and Kingdom Hearts
For Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3, Square Enix has not confirmed how the reveal will take place, whether through its own channels or at a partner showcase. The project entered full production shortly after Rebirth shipped. Producer Yoshinori Kitase revealed earlier this year that the story scenario was completed by the end of 2024 and that he was “very satisfied” with it. Director Naoki Hamaguchi added that development began immediately afterwards.
Square Enix has also shifted its publishing strategy towards multiplatform releases. While the first two remake titles launched as timed PlayStation exclusives, Part 3 could arrive simultaneously on PlayStation 5, PC, and Xbox Series X|S, broadening its audience.
Between Cloud’s showdown with Sephiroth and Sora’s next adventure, Square Enix has two flagship titles progressing in tandem, with both edging closer to the spotlight.
