The second match of the group A featured two American teams, Cloud9 who were defending the North American pride and Luminosity Gaming, a top South American team. At the start we saw LG as CT going for a fast push through the middle which brought them down to 3vs4. However, as it was later comfirmed, LG showed that they are masters of retake and they quickly managed to win that pistol round and get themselves up to 5-0 score line. But, from this moment on, Cloud9 striked back and won some crucial rounds which has put this match back into a tie position, 7-7. In the end, LG finished the first half with 8-7 advantage.
The second half was opened by Cloud9 taking the pistol round and getting 11-8 lead. However, as soon as LG has got their hands on the big guns they just took complete control of the match, winning all the remaining rounds and closing it out with 16-11. LG will now face Fnatic in the winners match, while Cloud9 will try to survive by playing against Vexed Gaming in the elimination match.
