The Shield and Sword stand strong after the first day of the IPL 5 Korean qualifiers and are one winners match victory from a playoffs spot.
Shield's triumph came at the expense of a loss for MLG champions Azubu Blaze, whose new top-laner EDG Avalon didn't have the best time against Expression. Despite having a super-farmed Kog'Maw, Blaze could not withstand the dunking Malphite/Nocturne combo of Shield.
In the second match of the group, CJ almost engineered a baron buff comeback after being heavily down in kills and gold but their team fight composition was simply weaker then the mass stuns of Storm's Zyra, Malphite and Anivia.
In the group next door, NaJin Sword joined their brothers as group leaders thanks to a very fed, quadra-killing Kog'Maw which IM never managed to take down, despite all efforts.
In the final match for the day, Season 2 runner-ups Azubu Frost came out with unorthodox composition and ran AP Kennen bot and reinforced the team with Shy's signature Jax, putting MVP White to the slaughter and finishing the game with almost 18K gold advantage.
