Last month, the first season of the Asian Private DotA League saw an array of distinguished Asian players in the competitive scene pitting themselves against each other. Now on the verge of welcoming a brand new season, fans can expect lots more of intense rivalry and epic DotA action from this elite league of Asian pros.
Season One concluded on the 28th of June and saw three players, "thaa", "stim-bboy`" and "takinbackmylove" walking away with cash prizes. "thaa" found himself 120 USD richer while second and third place was split due to equal points in the rankings and they both went away with 65 USD. Prizes were sponsored by Malaysian company DNA-s2k. Furthermore, commonly seen playing in the league were the American duo Demon and Fear as well as Toxi and Babarrrrr from Unique.
Season 2 Prizes
First Place 120 USD
Second Place 80 USD
Third Place 50 USD
Renamed to Axis.APDL, this new season brings in new sponsors. This time, Thailand gaming company Axis eSports and individual sponsor TenSa-ZengetSu will contribute to a total cash prize pool of 350 USD to be awarded to the top three players in the rankings. Additionally, DNA-s2k will continue sponsoring this league.
League founder 'Stupidmirc':
"Working alongside the staff and players, I am incredibly proud to see APDL and RGC Asia emerging as the first choice for both professional DotA players and amatuers alike.
Needless to say, the popularity of RGC in Asia could not have been possible without the loyal support of the players who have sticked with us ever since the Asian servers went up in April.
I would like to give special mention to three individuals who have helped me make this growing community a better place for gamers - skyf!r3, tWkN and Akuwm. Without their contributions, RGC Asia would not be the successful gaming platform that it is today.
Also, I would like to thank theone- who, as head administrator of APDL, helped ensure and will continue ensuring that the league runs smoothly.
And finally, we should not forget RGC founder Sir-Rogers, whose time and effort put into maintaining the servers truly deserve our respect. His hard work is reflected in the success that RGC enjoys today.
Oh, and be sure to expect some epic replays from the league. Cheers!"
Last but not least, a separate league called the Asian Private Dota League Mid-Skilled (APDL.MS) has been created to give talented middle to high skilled players a chance to enter the exclusive APDL, a league that only allows players with competitive experience. The top three players in the rankings on the 1st of August will get a chance to trial for a vouch into APDL.
Now, starting promptly at 18:00 CET today, Season 2 of APDL will last from 17th July to 17th August. Without further ado, let's give our best regards to all participating teams and players!
