Negreanu Falters Frustrated, Days After His Horse Wins Bracelet
Just days after his "horse," Jason Somerville, had collected his first bracelet in event #20, the $1,000 No-Limit Hold'em for $493,091, Daniel Negreanu had his first serious chance at a WSOP event in 2011. Negreanu came into Day 2 of the $10,000 Limit Hold'em Championship as the big chip leader, but Day 2 would prove to be a very frustrating day, especially at the hands of one player Steve Landfish who beat him in seemingly every pot all day long.
Negreanu tweeted regularly throughout the day of losing hand after hand to Landfish. The penultimate hand that sent Negreanu reeling, was a hand where Tam Hang hit runner runner straight flush to hit a straight flush against Negreanu's full house.
An incredulous Negreanu at one point jumped up, and threw his headphones to the floor breaking them in pieces. Negreanu finished just outside of the money after what seemed like his best opportunity in the 2011 WSOP. At least he has the comfort to know the guy he backed, Somerville, came through when it counted.
The Limit Hold'em Championship still has quite a number respected pros in contention, including Justin "BoostedJ" Smith, Nich Schulman, recent bracelet winner Darren Woods, Richard "Quiet Lion" Brodie, Barry Greenstein, Matt Hawrilenko, Hoyt Corkins and Isaac Haxton.
The winner of the event gets a WSOP bracelet and $378,642.
