Another Malaysia top team has spoken to GosuGamers! Let's see what they have to say about the team's performance and also the addition of Hyhy who will be replacing Mushi.
Hello, let's kick off with a short introduction about you and your teammates: who are they and what roles do they handle in the team?
-''Hello, I'm Chua Chee Cai a.k.a Ice from team Nv.GIGABYTE and I play the role of supporter for my team. Net is our ganker/supporter as well. xT is our ganker/farmer while Yamateh and hy share the same role of carries and farming in the team.''
Are there any unknown secrets behind Nirvana.my's success? *hehehe*
-''You should know that there are actually no secrets to success. We train hard and often to be where we are today.''
“Ice, Net and xT meet up at LAN shops while Yamateh and Hy remain at home ”Looks like Nirvana.my is the only team with a proper sponsor in Malaysia. The team managed to attend ESWC in France, ESTC in Thailand and also WDC at China; did Nirvana actually pay for all these expenses? Or were there other people contributing money to the team?
-''Yes, Nirvana actually paid for all our trips and expenses. We had other "contributors" in the past but Nirvana forked out most of the cash. After SMM, we will have a new sponsor though. *wink*''
How is training like for the team? Do you guys meet and up play on LAN or just play online?
-''Net, xT and I meet up at LAN shops while Yamateh and Hy remain at home because they are from different places (Johore and Singapore respectively) but when there are any competitions, we will gather at a LAN shop to train up.''
Did the team have loads of fun in China? Were the results achieved satisfactory?
-''It was very fun indeed, all the fans were so friendly! As for the results, we are hardly satisfied because we didn't have enough time to research the 6.69c map more. We were confident of a top 4 finish were it not for this stumbling block.''
Nirvana.my was recently featured in a local newspaper stating that the government doesn't support the gaming industry. Can you give us your views on that?
-''The government is mostly made up of old farts who'd rather pour money into the holy trinity of professions: medicine, law and engineering. They have started spending money on our national athletes only recently. But the same cannot be said about out e-Sports athletes.
I think it'll take another 20 years or more before someone with the right mentality to recognise computer games as an emergent sport.''
“He (Mushi) had already made up his mind before going to China for WDC”Mushi left Nirvana.my for CCM in China; can you tell us in detail when did he actually make up his mind to play in China, and why?
-''He had already made up his mind before going to China for WDC. It's obvious that in China, he can earn a lot money playing DotA. His family also supports his decision, so why not?
How did the team react after he decided to leave? Did the team persuade him to stay?
-''Since he had already decided to leave, we didn't want to burden him any longer as he was given the go-ahead by his family to seek fame in China. That's understandable because you earn a pittance here compared to the goldmine in China.''
Now that hy has joined the team, how is he fitting in? Is he the right person to fill in Mushi's large shoes?
-''Hy is definitely the right replacement for Mushi, he has a better teamwork with us [since he was our teammate in Ks before].''
So, if you were offered a job as a pro-gamer like Mushi, would you be heading to China as well?
-'' I will not because I am still studying and my family and girlfriend live here. I also feel it is my rightful duty to remain here and play for my country.''
By having the home advantage, how far do you think Nirvana.my will fare against top teams around the world (China especially) during SMM?
-''I dont think it is too big of an advantage for us. Believe it or not, the local fans will actually root for those international players because they're celebrities. Malaysians have grown quite bored watching us every now and then. But if we do make it to the final, I hope they know where their loyalties lie!''
When DotA 2 comes out next year, will you switch to that game if there is a competition which offers a reasonable amount of cash prizes?
-''I will be playing both titles because that way I can earn money from both games! *hahaha*''
Does your family know of your stellar achievements which made your country proud? What are their views of you pursuing a career in e-Sports?
-''My family have seen my achievements after reading the newspapers but they are still against the idea of me playing DotA professionally. To them, studying should remain my main priority because they had spent a lot of money on my studies.''
Thank you for giving us this wonderful interview, we wish Nirvana.my all the best in the upcoming SMM Grand Finals. Any shoutouts?
-''I would like to thank all our supporters/fans who had faith in during our ups and downs. We will continue training harder for SMM and hopefully achieve a commendable result.
Also I would like to express my appreciation to our sponsor Loveen who has done a lot for our team. Thank You.''
