Exciting new season gears up to take place in League of Legends this April 30, 2025. The League of Legends Season 2 is bringing players into the mystical islands of Ionia, exuding the “Spirit Blossom Beyond” theme. Here’s everything new in the upcoming League of Legends Season 2.

Spirit Blossom Beyond: A New Seasonal Theme

From the militaristic nation of Noxus, League of Legends Season 2 will take over the magical archipelago of Ionia. With the theme “Spirit Blossom Beyond”, it’ll transform the Summoner’s Rift to a mystical mix of bright blue and purple hues. Embellishing flowers and trees in the map for the blooming season. Moreover, it’ll partially submerge players’ team bases in water to bring out the tropical island feel.

There will also be a Spirit Blossom festival as one of the celebrations for League of Legends Season 2. In this event, Ionians get to share stories of legendary figures including the benevolent Spirit of Salvation. This spirit serves as a guide to the recently deceased onwards to their final resting place. There will also be a subplot between LeBlanc and Vladimir as they search for the cursed weapon.

Meet Yunara, Season 2’s New Champion

Beyond the tropical island, League of Legends Season 2 will introduce you to a new champion named Yunara. She’s been gathering attention from her looks alone of braided lavender hair paired with purple eyes and a flowing outfit. Currently, Riot Games has not revealed her full kit yet but some suggest that she’ll be an addition to the ADC roster.

Many expect her to have a special connection to the spirit blossoms, fitting to the upcoming season’s theme. She was first seen in the Season 2 cinematic where players instantly made several speculations. Her addition to the roster may possibly shake up the current meta, potentially competing with Caitlyn for the ADC role.

New Brawl Mode in Bandle City

Besides the new champion, players have been looking forward to the new Brawl game mode for League of Legends Season 2. This new mode will go live in Patch 25.10 on May 14, 2025, weeks after the initial season launch. It’ll feature a 5v5 deathmatch style mode in a small Bandle City map, offering quick 10-minute matches.

During the brawl, each team begins with 250 health while keeping the objective of reducing the enemy team’s health to zero.

  • Takedowns on enemy champions deal 5 damage to the enemy team
  • Takedowns on enemy minions deal 1 damage (while the enemy team isn’t at low health)
  • Pushing minions into the opponent’s Bandle portal deals 1 damage each

However, there won’t be towers around to protect portals and complex objectives to complete. This should make the mode accessible to all players regardless of their skill levels to practice champions and mechanics. It also provides a comeback buff to prevent one team from dominating. The buff increases their damage output while reducing their taken damage.

More Gameplay Adjustments and Improvements

The League of Legends Season 2 is also bringing in significant changes to roles, objectives, and systems. These improvements likely change the current meta and strategies of teams.

Jungle and Support Role Updates

  • Only Junglers will have access to Smite and are automatically assigned during Champion selection.
  • Supports earn World Atlas automatically at the match start.

Objective Simplification

  • Leaves only “Thornbound” form, offering Blood Roses and Spirit Petals as rewards.
  • Voidgrubs will spawn later and only once per match, leading to slower pacing.
  • Accurate objective bounties to make sure they don’t appear for the losing team.

Anti-Grief Measures

  • True Skill 2 Evaluation detecting smurfs and assigning them to appropriate matchmaking.
  • Rewards players for showing good behavior and improving their honor level.

New Cosmetics and Seasonal Rewards

A fresh wave of cosmetics will hit the coast as soon as League of Legends Season 2 arrives. It’ll likely include Spirit Blossom skins for champions like Ashe, Bard, Irelia, Ivern, Varus, and Zyra. On the other hand, the Act 1 Battlepass features Prestige skins for Zed and Luz, Spirit Blossom Ivern, plus new Pool Party Twitch. Morgana will also receive an Exalted skin while Aphelios earn mythic skin for this season.

Conclusion

Now the dates are up, the players have only to wait for its launch. League of Legends Season 2 is set to go live on servers this April 30, 2025. It’ll be alongside the patch 25.S2.1 or 25.09 as Riot confirms it to arrive this summer. However, some of these contents will be released in the latter half of the season.
