Power Surge Build for Once Human

In terms of weapons and armor, there are a few options you can go for at various points in the game. Most of the best blueprints come from the Wish machine and Starchrom:

Its third set awards Deviant energy, which grants 1% elemental damage, up to a stack of 20. Reloading lowers the stacks by half. Its four set grants two deviant energy stacks and an extra ten stacks.

There are two different styles of Power Surge. One style is crit-focused, while the other favours the Trigger and Status effects. Both play slightly differently so it’s largely what type of weapons you want to use and what you can actually acquire at the time.

Be advised the crit version is very expensive to play. However, The Trigger is much more playable early on thanks to using gear you acquire early on. From there, you can pivot into a Status damage build, or go deep into the crit.

Power Surge Crit build

The crit version is an end-game build because of all the Starchrom you need. It’s also not really achievable early in a season due to limited amounts of Starchrom awarded via the weekly Mitsuko Mark awards. You can get it earlier if you play a lot and farm lots of Eclipses to turn into Starchrom at Resonant Filter.

If you’re playing the crit build, the ACS 12 grants plenty of crit hit and damage modifiers, which synergizes well with the Gas Mask hood and the Lonewolf set. The bonus critical strike you get from all the weapons, helmet, and the Lonewolf set offers a lot of crit ramping. If you want to turn the Power Surges into an easy crit farming tool, then this build works a treat. Although, this is a very expensive but very strong end-game build for tough dungeons. You will need about 28k Starchrom to complete the core build.

Power Surge Trigger build

The Trigger build is much easier and less expensive to get going for newer players. The core parts can be done by playing the game normally. You can then transition into the crit build in the end game when you can easily get a lot of Starchrom. Alternatively, there’s late game armour sets for you to acquire from the regular Status Effect blueprint armour sets in the Wish Machine.

The idea of this build is to increase your Trigger count, using items like the Mayfly Goggles. You get these from the Iron River Monolith Mystical Chest. From there, you can get the SOCR early on via gambling at the Wish Machine’s first level. It shouldn’t cost too much to get it. This is a mid-game combo easily obtainable from level 20 onwards. From here, you have a basic set-up to get more trigger effects for the Power Surge to happen.

When you level up and get access to the Chalk Peak region, you’ll want to acquire the Heavy Duty set. This set awards players with bonus Elemental damage by 8% as its two-set bonus. Its three-set bonus increases status damage by 40% fro 8 seconds after killing an enemy, decaying over time. This will allow your Power Surge to ramp up its damage in AoE fights and maintain a solid buff for single targets. Throw in the Trigger effects and you can easily deal a big chunk of damage to any enemy. When you can afford 8000 Starchrom, buy the MP7S. You then only need to improve the Heavy Duty Set with spare blueprint parts from the Operator set to further improve your armour quality over time.

When you’re ready to enter the end game, to start to slowly buy the blueprint pieces for the Shelterer Set armour at the Wish Machine. The two-set bonus grants 8% more status effect damage like the Heavy Duty set. However, its third-set bonus awards Deviant energy, which grants 1% elemental damage, up to a stack of 20. Reloading lowers the stacks by half. Its four-set bonus grants two deviant energy stacks and an extra ten stacks.

You have a choice of either going for the Mayfly Goggles, the four-set Shelterer, and take any armor slot as your 6th slot. Or you can go three-set Shelterer, two-set Heavy Duty, and keep the Mayfly goggles. It You can also go four set of Wanderer, Mayfly goggles, and Gas Mask hood for added crit hit damage.
