Do you have what it takes to become a minuscule maiming machine? As a sandbox shooter and puzzle platformer, this game can be equal parts fun and frustrating. But if you follow these Squirrel with a Gun tips and tricks, you’ll be gathering acorns and taking down agents like it’s nobody’s business.

Be mindful of recoil

You may be excited to just jump into the game and start shooting people in the face but you have to remember one important thing – firing a gun has recoil. And if we can feel a gun kick back, you’d best believe the impact will be considerably larger for a rodent. So, remember to keep track of your positioning when gunning down enemies as your next shot might send you flying off of a ledge.

There are silent takedowns

We all know that the main draw of this game is that you have a gun. Otherwise, you’re just a squirrel. But there will be times when you’ll be scurrying about unarmed.  What you may not know is that it’s possible to kill agents without a weapon. Approach an enemy undetected and jump onto their leg. You can then climb up to their shoulder and press E to snap their neck. You’ll have to be quick about it though since you won’t get the prompt to attack if your target notices what you’re up to.

✓ You have more than just guns

You won’t always have a gun in hand but there are other items you can pick up and use as weapons like bricks and explosives.

Golden Acorns aren’t spent

Opening containers for weapons or cosmetics require you to spend your hard-earned acorns. When approaching these unlockables, you’ll also notice that a lot of them show a number of Golden Acorns above its cost. This doesn’t mean you’ll be parting ways with your Golden Acorns but instead serves as a prerequisite before you can obtain the item inside.

NPCs drop more than weapons and acorns

Whether you’re offing agents or mugging passersby, you’ll usually get a few acorns or sometimes maybe a gun. However, there are more items that you can pick up after being dropped by an NPC. For example, civilians can drop their cell phones which you can then use to browse the internet for some interesting squirrel facts.

✓ Help the civilians

Some of the people around the neighbourhood need help finding items. Bring them the right stuff and you’ll be rewarded handsomely.

Some outfits provide buffs

During your adventures around the neighbourhood, you’ll pick up some cute little outfits for our pint-sized protagonist. You’re free to use these to give your squirrel a unique look, but do take note that some of these items have some helpful effects. Take the eye patch that you get early on for instance. By equipping this outfit, snapping people’s necks will deal more damage.

Save often

With most titles having auto-save these days, it’s easy to assume that you can just exit a game and pick up exactly where you left off. However, that isn’t the case with this sandbox shooter. So, make sure you save as often as you can by jumping onto the birdfeeders you find around the neighbourhood.
