Madden 25, not the video game that came out in 2013 for the 25-year anniversary, has officially launched and that means it is time to add friends and play together. It’s one thing to face off with a CPU, but it’s much more enjoyable when there’s a friend on the other end who can test your skills and provide someone to connect with.

How to play with friends

There are a few different ways to add your friends, they can be added through the gaming platform you use. If you’re on Xbox, that means using their gamertag to add them on Xbox Live. Fortunately, this is simple enough to do:

  1. Open the menu.
  2. Head to the Friends tab. It is one click to the right of the main menu.
  3. Scroll down to find someone.
  4. Input their gamertag.
  5. Find their profile and send a friend request.

Once they accept the invite, you are free to invite them to any game, including Madden 25. PC users can use the Xbox app if they have a Microsoft account, otherwise they will need to befriend people within the game itself (instructions on that below).

For PlayStation, the instructions are largely similar:

  1. Open the menu.
  2. Find the friends section.
  3. Search for the PSN ID.
  4. Add friend and send a request.

That’s how to add friends for PlayStation users. However, the game does feature crossplay, which includes a different set of instructions. You can’t add a PlayStation ID as a friend on an Xbox or vice versa.

How to crossplay with friends

Crossplay is an automatic setting in the game. It comes on as the default setting, so you don’t need to change anything. You can move forward with adding a friend to the game so that you can play whether they’re on PC, PlayStation, or Xbox. There is no Nintendo Switch support right now.

  1. Open Madden and get to the main menu.
  2. Click R3 or the appropriate button on your console to open EA Connect.
  3. Tab over to the right until you land on “Player search”.
  4. Input the username of the player and send them a friend request.

After the user accepts your friend request, you can invite them to a connected franchise, a quick play head-to-head match, and more. You can play Madden 25 alone, but it’s a much more enjoyable experience to take on opponents who are real and not computer generated.
