Hogwart Legacy’s map is pretty sizable for an open-world game, and you’ve got your standard ways of traversing it — land, air, and water. Or, converted the world of Hogwarts Legacy, that’s on foot, flying on brooms and mounts, and swimming in lakes and waterways scattered across The Highlands. But what about diving and exploring the underwater world, a common feature in most open-world games nowadays? In this guide, we’ll explain how to dive in Hogwarts Legacy.

Can You Dive Underwater In Hogwarts Legacy?

The short answer is, yes, players can dive underwater in Hogwarts Legacy.However, it’s fairly limited form of diving and underwater exploration isn’t possible.

In Hogwarts Legacy, you can only dive in specific spots in lakes and rivers. You’ll initiate the mechanic during the Lost Astrolabe quest and from then on, you can dive search for diving spots, represented by small bubbling whirlpools on the water’s surface. Interacting with these either produce loot or teleport you to a different location. However, you still can’t navigate underwater as your character will dive right in and immediately pop back up with the loot or quest items.

Players can’t eat Gillyweeds, either, nor use the Bubble-head Charm, or transfigure themselves into a fish, as seen in the Harry Potter movies, to explore what’s underneath the waters around Hogwarts.

How To Dive In Hogwarts Legacy?

To dive in Hogwarts Legacy, approach a whirlpool on the surface of the water and interact with it.

You’ll have to swim out to these swirls first before you can dive and retrieve items, loot, or teleport to a new spot. Get close enough, then simply press the specified button to interact with them. For PlayStation 5 players, it’s the Square button; on Xbox, the X button; and on PC, tap F key.

To speed up things, you can simply climb onto your broom and hover over the water to first locate the swirls. Then, simply dismount the broom when you’re above the whirlpool to jump into the water and dive.
