Kratos and Atreus’ chaotic descent into the mines has seemingly barred your way down via The Forge, and it seems like there’s no way to return after that first visit. In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to return to The Applecore in God of War Ragnarok.

How to get back to the Applecore in God of War Ragnarok

To return to The Applecore:

  1. Complete the Forging Destiny main quest.
  2. Travel to the Aurvangar Wetlands mystic gateway at the southern tip of Svartalfheim.
  3. Take a left and use the ferry to reach the Sverd Sands.
  4. Make your way through the Sverd Sands until you get to the elevator you used previously to exit the mines with Tyr.
  5. Board the elevator and interact with the lever to set it in motion. It will take you down into The Applecore.

Once in The Applecore, take a right down the path to find The Applecore Descent mystic gateway straight ahead. Unlocking it will make future visits much easier as you won’t need to take the ferry and ride the elevator down to reach The Applecore.

From here, you can make your way through, ticking off all the collectibles, favors, and treasure maps needed to 100% the area. There are also The Applecore and Jarnsmida Pitmines mystic gateways to unlock along the way, simplifying return visits. Note that you’ll need the Draupnir Spear at a certain point to spear a wind notch to progress. If you’ve yet to find the spear, then push forward with the main story – you’ll get it after wrapping up the Forging Destiny mission.
