Contents hide Frost Vortex build weapons and armor Frost Tactical Vest Location Frost Vortex build explainedThe Frost Vortex is a special ability found on certain weapons in Once Human, that causes enemies to slow in a set radius around the player then sustain frost elemental damage every second while it lasts. If you want a very strong build that deals huge chunks of sustained burst damage to enemies, bosses that spawn mobs, or immobile targets, this is the perk for you. Here’s all you need to know to put together the best Frost Vortex build in Once Human.
The best weapon to get for the Frost Vortex is the legendary AK from the Wish Machine. Captured by VideoGamerFrost Vortex build weapons and armor
If you want to run a Frost Vortex build, this table shows you the weapons, armour sets, and mods you’ll want to equip. You’ll need to use the Wish Machine to get the best pieces, which costs Starchrom. Don’t forget that your Starchrom carries over between seasons. If you can’t afford to get the build this season, don’t worry, as it will be more achievable next season.

When you get to the end game, you can find an armour item called the Frost Tactical Vest, which adds ice spikes to your build. It’s better than the Heavy Duty set chest piece, which you get from Chalk Peak points of interest. Comboing both the Heavy Duty two set and this vest can make a good build for reaching the end game until you replace it with Starchrom parts.
To get the vest, you need to head to 73 Point Extraction in Red Sands. You can find it at the large base in the mountains in the centre of Red Sands desert zone. Head to the northwest corner of the zone, then enter a large yellow and black building. Go down the stairs into an underground facility. You’ll find the Frost Tactical Vest inside the Mystical Crate in the glass room guarded by two Rosetta enemies.
Once you have the blueprint, unlock it in the armor menu. From there, you can craft it at your Intermediate Workbench in your Territory base. You will need various end-game materials that you can get by disassembling gear found all over Red Sands, such as the plastics, adhesive, and fibres.

We recommend buying the KAM Abyss Glance Assault Rifle when you can. This 8000 Starchrom weapon is your best option for the build because of its perks. You get a built-in extended mag, giving it 52 rounds per mag. That’s a lot of Frost Vortex triggering, alongside granting synergy with the Deviant stacks from the Shelterer Set.
Until you can get the KAM, you can use the KV-SBR SMG and and run the Heavy Duty Set for the bulk of your early Frost Vortex build. You can then slowly remove pieces of the Heavy Duty set and replace them with the Shelterer set. You will likely be running the Stealth Walker chest piece, 4-piece Shelterer, and one spare piece in any slot. It will likely be Heavy Duty for the 10% max HP buff from its 1 set bonus. If you want to really go all, you can get the Polar Jelly Deviant. The added slowing effects and frost damage scales with your KAM’s frost damage buffs. It also helps keep enemies in the Frost Vortex while you’re saving up for the legendary armour pieces.
To further buff the build, you want to use the frost icon mods on armour and weapons. The best are the legendary versions. However, you can get epic versions like the Shattering Ice epic weapon mod. For armor mods, use whatever gives you Status damage.
You can also grab the Whimsical Drink recipe for 30% increase to PSI intensity. Honey Glazed Meat also grants a 3% crit damage buff when hitting enemies affected by Frost Vortex. This is a potent option for those using a crit-focused SMG. Alongside, you’ll want to equip armor and weapons mods that focus on giving your crit chance to trigger Frost Vortex as often as possible.
