Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 left advanced access yesterday, launching to the masses while squashing an attempted review bomb campaign under its muddy blue-and-gold boots. But that's not its only impressive feat.

As reported by PCGamesN, it already has the highest concurrent peak player count across all Warhammer games on Steam, reaching a staggering high of 225,690. That was on a Monday evening, so we'll no doubt see it surpass that already impressive milestone this weekend.

The previous record, held by Total War: Warhammer 3 since 2022, was a peak player count of 166,754. Space Marine 2 has shattered that record by 58,936 players.

At the time of writing, Space Marine 2 is the ninth-most played game on Steam over the past 24 hours, dethroning Grand Theft Auto 5, Deadlock, Rust, Baldur's Gate 3, Stardew Valley, and more.

It's also the number one best-selling game on Steam right now.

As for where Space Marine 2 ranks across Steam's expansive 21-year history, it already holds the 58th spot for peak player count, beating No Man's Sky, Rainbow Six Siege, and even Left 4 Dead 2. It's not far behind games like Team Fortress 2, Ark: Survival Evolved, or Payday 2, either.

It's safe to say that Saber Interactive's return to the world of Warhammer is a rousing success.
