WWE 2K24 Releases, Then Pulls Broken Scott Steiner Card

Summary
- WWE 2K24 promptly pulled its "Big Poppa Pump" Scott Steiner card due to a litany of bugs, including no moveset or overall.
- To get the card, gamers had to play the MyFaction mode, only to find the card is broken on release.
- It is the latest development in 2K24's MyFaction mode, locking certain cards behind a paywall, grind or packs.
If you were hoping to play as the "Big Poppa Pump" version of Scott Steiner in WWE 2K24, then think again. That's because after launching the "Persona" card on September 12, the team over at 2K pulled the wrestler shortly after, due to numerous bugs.
It is the latest development in what has been a rather tumultuous period for 2K's "MyFaction" mode, a spin on the traditional "MyTeam" mode that other sports video games have adopted over the past decade, though 2K added an interesting wrinkle beginning with 2K24.
For the uninitiated, certain cards that had been previously "exclusive" to MyFaction, dubbed "Persona" cards, or cards based on a wrestler's previous character, are now transferable to the game's other core modes, except there's one issue.
Many of these cards have required players to jump through various hoops to unlock them, including, but not limited to, purchasing a real-life action figure, grinding for hours in the mode or opening packs. Of course, a marketplace does exist, which has only added to the issues.

Dragon's Dogma 2's microtransactions are minor and can be skipped entirely, and the game is actually better when you don't buy them. They still suck.
PostsNo, Scott Steiner Doesn't Weigh 1 Pound
After initially revealing the card on Twitter, fans flocked over to MyFaction to complete the necessary challenge in order to claim Steiner for their own. That's when fans soon found out that the card had no moveset, attributes or an overall rating in the game.
What's worse is that when selecting the Steiner card, the in-game announcer declares that he weighs one pound, an obvious mistake.

Shortly after, the event was pulled, and the card was rendered no longer obtainable. To this point, 2K hasn't commented on the issues, having replaced the card with another. Never mind that the studio has managed to promote another set of MyFaction cards.
One Redditor outlined all the steps needed to even have a chance of getting the card before writing, "The fact that we have to jump through all these hoops just to get a broken Steiner is ludicrous."
Elsewhere, a fan summed up the mindset of the community at the moment. "Really glad the version of Scott Steiner we actually wanted was paywalled… you know… besides the 60 dollar paywall for all the dlc… behind the 60 dollar paywall for the game," they wrote.
Indeed, the "Persona" cards, which are models of existing roster characters, are not part of the game's season pass, which is $40. An additional $20 is required for the Deluxe Edition goodies, provided you don't have them already. In other words, players have already been gouged to this point, and a broken card is just another kick in the gut.
