Until Dawn Remaster Announcement Has Bloodborne Fans Reeling Again

It's almost tradition these days for Bloodborne fans to prepare themselves for the inevitable disappointment they will feel whenever PlayStation puts on a State of Play showcase, even if there's been absolutely no hint of a remake, remaster, or PC port in the build up. They're a hardy lot, turned cynical and jaded having weathered years of showcases with no news, so it takes a lot to get them riled up into a state of agony.
Until Dawn getting a remaster and PC port seems to have done it though, which was announced during the State of Play earlier this week. While it's pretty neat to see such a cult classic title return with updated visuals and port to a whole new platform, it seems to have further convinced Bloodborne fans that pretty much every PS4 exclusive is going to be remastered and ported to PC before FromSoftware's gothic masterpiece.

I just want to fear the old blood in 4K at 60 frames per second. Is that too much to ask?
PostsHead on over to social media, and you won't need to look too hard to find a Bloodborne fan struggle tweeting about the Until Dawn announcement. Most of these are also racking up thousands of interactions, almost becoming congregation sites for Bloodborne fans to vent their fury and express their disappointment. Bloodborne's subreddit is almost just as bad, which rapidly became a place of mourning yet again once the State of Play concluded.
It's actually becoming somewhat unbelievable as to how little PlayStation has acknowledged Bloodborne in recent years. You can't argue that it wouldn't sell well, given that Elden Ring was released to widespread critical acclaim and some dizzying sales figures, and Bloodborne is arguably the most highly-rated title PlayStation has in its back catalog. It's even gone so far as to shut down a fan-made game; that's how much PlayStation seems to want people to forget that it's even a thing.
At this rate, it feels like PlayStation would rather bring Knack to PS5 and PC before Bloodborne. No doubt we'll get a couple more State of Play showcases this year, which fans will inevitably watch expecting further disappointment. There seems to be some hopes that something Bloodborne -related might happen in 2025, what with it being the game's 10th anniversary, so let's all set aside our clown makeup for now and get ready to reapply it next year.
