As you progress through the main story in Throne and Liberty, you'll come across a vampire-themed quest called 'Pledge Loop'. This quest is near the end of chapter five of the Adventure Codex, and it is of particular importance as it unlocks your very first guardian skill, Vampire Slayer Ezekiel.

This quests starts after speaking to Jacque Hander in Stonguard Castle. He'll send you off to the Temple of Sylaveth, where you'll need to solve a quick jumping puzzle, interact with the Floating Thought, and then defeat the boss Leonardas before obtaining your new and powerful skill.

Where To Find The Temple Of Sylaveth

The Temple of Sylaveth is located just north of Stoneguard Castle which is in the southern region on the map. After entering the Temple of Sylaveth you'll come down to a circular room. Scarla's Ghost awaits where you'll need to complete the dialogue. She motions for you to interact with a glowing orb on a pedestal in the center of the room.

How To Reach The Floating Thought

Interacting with this Memory Sign will create obstacles that you can then traverse over and also cause some of the gates along the outer walls to be passed through.

After activating the Memory Sign you'll only have 20 seconds before the objects in the room and gates close to get to the next Memory Sign.

Follow these steps to complete the puzzle:

  1. Activate the first Memory Sign.
  2. Go south and travel up the stairs and through the gate.
  3. Turn right and head towards the second Memory Sign.
  4. Activate this Memory Sign.
  5. Pass through the nearby gate and grapple onto the red pillar.
  6. Run across this pillar and jump to the next one. You may need to use your Glide Morph to clear the gaps.
  7. Activate the third Memory Sign.
  8. Pass through the nearby gate, jump onto the pillar, and grapple onto the red obstacle.
  9. Interact with the Floating Thought.

How To Beat Leonardas

Continue traveling through the passageways, and they will lead you to the vampire boss, Leonardas.

This is a fairly straightforward fight, using basic attacks, lunging strikes, and occasionally teleporting behind you. Most weapon combinations will be able to easily take out this boss, but do be aware that Leonardas will occasionally become immune to damage.

At this point, you can only deal damage to him after interacting with the Pledge Artifact. This imbues you with the power of Ezekiel, which gives you a substantial damage buff.

With this Guardian skill unlocked, the strength of your build will improve immensely, and there are many more guardian skills that you'll unlock throughout Throne and Liberty.
