Fortnite Teaser Theory Pointing To Like A Dragon's Hero Bat Divdes Fans

Summary
- Key art for Fortnite's upcoming season might include more evidence that a Yakuza crossover is coming.
- Some fans think the bat being held in the background is Ichiban's Hero's Bat from Yakuza: Like A Dragon.
- Others aren't so convinced and think the addition of an electrified bat is merely a coincidence.
A new Fortnite season kicks off this weekend, and with Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza In Hawaii launching at the same time, it seems very likely the long-rumored Fortnite x Yakuza crossover is finally about to happen. While there has been no clear sign of it in the new season's teasers and trailers, the more eagle-eyed among you have theorized something from Like A Dragon's world has been hiding in plain sight.
The theory is that a weapon off in the background of a Fortnite season two teaser is Ichiban Kasuga's Hero's Bat. The theory has been shared and popularized by iFireMonkey on Twitter who has provided a close-up of the Fortnite weapon in question alongside Yakuza: Like A Dragon's cover art which shows the Hero's Bat slung over Ichiban's shoulder.

PostsIn the background of the Fortnite teaser is a character on a motorbike in mid-air wielding an electrified baseball bat in their left hand. Hidden in plain sight not only because it's in the background, but also because people's attention is drawn to Mortal Kombat's Sub-Zero who joins Fortnite next season, and the Dill Pickle guy in the bottom right. Turns out that pickle can sing, as was revealed in the new season's trailer.
There Might Be A Yakuza Teaser Hiding In Fortnite's Lawless Season Reveal
Some Think That's The Hero's Bat, Others, Not So Much
Ichiban is holding an electrified bat on the cover of Yakuza: Like A Dragon, and it's a weapon that's featured throughout the game if you want it to be and upgrade it accordingly. The similarities are certainly there and many are now convinced the Yakuza crossover is coming and that the Hero's Bat will be a part of it.
CloseOthers remain skeptical, however, and it's easy to see why. For starters, for as long as this Fortnite/Like A Dragon collab has been discussed, the characters dropping onto the island have been rumored to be Kiryu and Majima. That doesn't mean Ichiban can't join them, of course, nor does it mean his bat can't be added to the battle royale without him.
The bat in the Fortnite teaser and the one Ichiban uses aren't identical either. Again, there might have been subtle tweaks made for its use in Fortnite and clearly, if it is the real thing, it's still recognizable. The final argument against the bat being Yakuza-themed is the lack of credit for RGG or Sega in the image. Mortal Kombat is credited in the bottom corner of the full image since Sub-Zero appears. However, everyone involved will have been very aware that including a studio name in the image would have been spotted immediately and the jig would be up.
