Theatrhythm Final Bar Line: The Best Team Compositions

In RPGs, your party is everything. After all, sometimes it takes a specific combination of abilities to accentuate the best of your team and take down formidable enemies. This sentiment also rings true in the Final Fantasy spin-off Theatrhythm: Final Bar Line.

FBL's Series Quest mode has hundreds of missions to pursue, all with radically different requirements. Some missions require your party to deal a high amount of damage points. Yet, other missions may require picking up a set number of treasure chests. Fortunately, with FBL's diverse roster of characters, you can form a party formation for any need. Here are some of our go-to team compositions.
7 The Thief Party
A strong thief party consists of four Hunter-type characters who can perform stealing abilities. In addition, since Hunters often tout haste skills, they'll prove helpful for FMS stages. This formation is perfect for missions with a treasure chest quota. Furthermore, a thief party can help you scavenge for items and collectibles when needed.
Here is an example of what a thief party may look like.

6 The Healing Party
A strong healing party comprises four Healing, Support, Summon, or Hunter characters who can perform cures, status removals, or damage-avoiding abilities. This composition is helpful when taking on high-difficulty music stages or missions that require a zero-damage run. In addition, this party formation will help you survive more challenging score levels, including Ultimate and Supreme.

Don't expect to take down many enemies if you're playing with a healing party. Instead, this formation focuses on survival and preservation. Still, some healing types sport proficient combat skills. For instance, Ignis has a complete set of wind magic abilities. Even Ciaran, a support type, has two ice attacks at his disposal should you need them.

5 The Elemental Party
Elemental parties can take on various forms. After all, each quest mission requires proficiency in different elements. Therefore, it's vital to train at least one ice, fire, thunder, and wind-wielding character to level 99. Those four characters will be the foundations of your elemental parties. Then, complement those foundational characters with characters that know similar abilities. This party configuration works best for missions requiring defeating an enemy utilizing a specific element.
It's common for elemental parties to primarily include magic types. However, basic expertise is not exclusive to magic characters. For instance, Cloud, a physical type, and Chocobo, a support type, wield sufficient wind abilities. In addition, Rydia, a summon type, specializes in ice magic. There are many more examples in FBL's roster.
Here is an example of what an elemental party may look like. In this case, we're building a party specializing in wind abilities:

Our example uses wind characters exclusively. However, elemental exclusivity is not a hard and fast rule for this formation. For instance, if you're facing other enemies that are resistant to your party's primary element, you can include a member with a different elemental focus. Or, you can fill a slot with a supporting character that can increase your party's stats.
4 The Magic Damage Party
Magic damage parties consist of your four strongest Magic-type characters. This formation is best for missions with enhanced magical damage effects or diminished physical damage effects. In addition, keeping a diverse assortment of elemental attacks equipped will help this party navigate long strings of enemies in music stages. So, even if an enemy resists one party member's attack, another party member may hit the enemy with their weakness.

3 The Physical Damage Party
Physical damage parties consist of your four strongest Physical or Defense-type characters. Theoretically, it's the opposite of what a magic damage party should be. Therefore, it best suits missions with enhanced physical damage effects or diminished magical damage effects. You'll want to assign four of your most damaging physical types to this party. However, your equipped abilities should vary, including slashing, piercing, and blunt attacks.
Physical damage parties are also helpful for missions that require you to trigger many abilities in one music stage. Many low-tier physical abilities have unlimited uses. In addition, the Added Cut ability triggers after any five of your party's abilities activate. Your ability usage will quickly rise into the double digits!

2 The Summoner Party
Summoner parties consist primarily of characters with Summon-boosting skills, such as Mana Cede, Swiftness, or Boost. Therefore, you'll need at least one strong summoner character to form your party. However, since there aren't many summoner characters in FBL, recruit characters with skills to support your summoner. For instance, Tidus, a physical type, and Alphinauph, a magic type, both have summoning abilities.

A summon party is the best fit for missions that require you to meet a high Summon damage value or battles when Summon damage is multiplied. However, since summoned monsters can only attack in Battle Music Stages, refrain from using this party for Field Music Stages. Otherwise, their skillset will go unutilized.
Here is an example of what a summoner party may look like:

1 The High-Level Party
As its name suggests, this party configuration features your four highest-level characters, regardless of type. This party will often be your primary team since their stats are better than their lower-level piers. Since this party is your A-Team, filling it with characters you understand how to use well is essential. For instance, if a character has an ability that's hard to activate, you may not want to include them.
There is no standard team configuration for this specific formation. However, you'll likely form this team naturally as you discover which characters you prefer to play with. However, we recommend keeping this party diverse with different skill types. Then, you can assign each member to the other parties listed too!
