From Star Wars Battlefront 2 To Fable, Gamers Share The Weapons They Most Regret Wasting Their Time Grinding For

Summary
- There is nothing worse than grinding for a weapon, only for it to be rather mediocre in the end.
- Taking to Reddit, gamers discussed the grinds that were absolutely not worth it for what they ended up getting.
- Ranging from Breath of the Wild's Master Sword to Mjölnir in AC Valhalla, the thread is a frustrating trip through video game history.
One of the most satisfying things in video games, besides getting the Platinum Trophy or 1,000 Gamerscore, is the sense of progression that comes from slowly upgrading your weak weapons into better and better tools.

Move over, Master Sword
PostsOftentimes, that requires grinding — like a lot of grinding — and, for the most part, it's worth it. That said, there are a few games where the end weapon was almost certainly not worth the hassle. Taking to Reddit, gamers shared their worst experiences with unlockables.
I Spent All Of My Time Grinding For This?
Right from the get-go, one fan took things back in time to the original Battlefront 2, where, by getting "Legendary" status with the rocket launcher, you'll get the guided version of the weapon. "Basically changed the class, from destroying a corridor, to being a greenhouse that fires rockets," they wrote.
Elsewhere, Mjölnir from Assassin's Creed Valhalla made an appearance. To unlock that weapon, you had to complete an absurd number of tasks, including finishing the story and defeating 45 specific enemies.
"This just unearthed some massive PTSD," one fan wrote in response.
The legendary weapons from Fable were also mentioned, as were the ultimate weapons for the party members in Final Fantasy 10.
In a more recent example, one gamer listed Breath of the Wild's Master Sword as a worthless unlock, largely because it wasn't immune from the dreaded weapon durability mechanic. "Surely this legendary sword is, finally, a relief from every single one of your damage sticks shattering in like 10 hits?" they wrote.
Nope. Interestingly enough, a weapon durability fix is coming to the Switch 2 editions of Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, though not without some strings attached.
The rest of the thread is a major blast of frustrating nostalgia. Personally, I'm with user jermguy117, who noted that the original RYNO in Ratchet and Clank was definitely not worth the amount of work it took to get. I wish I could go back in time to tell my eight-year-old self that.
