Summary

  • We don't know much about The Witcher 4 right now, but fans have theorised for a while that Ciri will be the main character.
  • That raised some concerns about whether Geralt would make an appearance at all or if he'd be left out entirely.
  • Worry not, though, as Geralt's voice actor, Doug Cockle, has revealed he'll "be a part of" The Witcher 4.

Geralt of Rivia's voice actor, Doug Cockle, has confirmed in a recent interview that Geralt will "be a part of" The Witcher 4, although he won't be the main focus of the story.

Even though we've known about The Witcher 4 (or whatever CD Projekt Red wants to call it) being in development for a few years now, CD Projekt Red has revealed shockingly little about its next big game. The only concrete thing we've seen so far is a teaser image showing a Witcher medallion resembling a lynx, which seemed to suggest that Geralt wouldn't be the main character this time around.

Ever since that teaser image was revealed, fans have theorised that The Witcher 4 would focus on Ciri instead of Geralt, which makes sense considering how The Witcher 3 ended. Even though most fans have accepted that Geralt won't star in the next Witcher game, that hasn't stopped everyone from hoping that he'd still be involved in the story.

Don't Worry, Geralt Will "Be A Part Of" The Witcher 4

As pointed out by Twitter user HazzadorGamin, Geralt's voice actor, Doug Cockle, recently took part in an interview with Fall Damage to talk about his time with The Witcher so far. When asked about The Witcher 4, Cockle said that he can't say anything about it that we don't already know from CD Projekt Red.

Despite claiming he couldn't say too much, Cockle immediately followed that up by revealing that Geralt will "be a part" of The Witcher 4, something that hasn't been officially announced yet. Cockle also confirmed that The Witcher 4 "won't focus" on Geralt, confirming once and for all that he won't be the main character.

The Witcher 4 has been announced. I can't say anything about it. Geralt will be a part of the game. We just don't know how much, and the game won't focus on Geralt, so it's not about him this time. - Doug Cockle

Although it's not surprising to hear that Geralt will make an appearance in The Witcher 4, Cockle's comments do seem to suggest that Ciri will be the main character of The Witcher 4. After all, if Geralt isn't going to be the "main focus" of the story, it wouldn't make much sense for him to be a part of the game if it's not about Ciri.
